Deep in the heart of the Antioquia region, surrounded by the most spectacular landscapes of lush green mountains and bountiful water sources, there’s a tiny little town which name should be Paraíso but that instead is called Jardín – an equally fitting name for what’s probably the most beautiful town in Colombia. Because it is located in a valley between the Central and West Colombian Andes, reaching Jardín takes quite some meandering through bumpy, narrow mountain roads. But it is precisely this somehow inaccessible location what makes Jardín so special: hidden since its foundation 155 years ago, the town has escaped the pressure for expansion that most pueblos have faced across the continent. Along with common rubbish. Its a small and colorful town where life starts out early in the AM and dies down early evening. Lots of day activities. Therefore pick up truck for garbage and compost starts its route and passes by the house 6:30-7 AM. Its a bit loud and its the same thing anywhere throughout the town.
