Tropical Forest/Bird Sanctuary

The chalet is on a property of over 180 acres of prime high tropical forest in a valley with a lake. I is just 60 km from Sao Paulo and has two other Airbnb properties to share the entire outdoor space. This forest is used for research on flora and fauna especially birds and known for a record number of species. Perfect to relax and connect with nature. The Chalet is embedded in a very natural environment, part of a complex of three available houses. Simply sitting on the porch, some of the most interesting wildlife can be experienced & photographically captured. If you are looking to relax this place is for you. This modern chalet, for two people (Adults Only), has a living room, kitchen and one bedroom with one Queen bed. Kitchen is equipped with stove, an oven, and essential kitchen utensils. Utility area has a refrigerator and dryer. Please note that cellular phone signals could be weak and/or unavailable in certain areas, VIVO is the only cell service in the area. Guests are responsible for bringing any consumables. Full access of Chalet. A charming roofed area with barbecue and pizza oven serve the chalet and the two other houses on the property. Available on first come/first serve basis. Large forested areas are part of the location and available to those experienced in this environment. Depending on guests interest in ongoing wildlife projects, interaction frequently between Chalet guests and research teams. Other buildings in the complex serve as host to many research disciplines for the region because of the diversity of flora/fauna and Eco-Systems. Government mandated preserved area that is highly forested. Chalet borders a foundation dedicated to preserving certain Brazilian Fauna. Located "as crow flies" near to Sao Paulo (1 hour). However, roads and traffic common to this city mean transit time 2 hours (3 hours from GRU airport). Location is 20 minutes (6 KM) on dirt road. Closest town with good supermarket, gas, pharmacy, dentist, restaurant infrastructure is Juquitiba, 30-35 minutes away. Going a little further, about 1 hour driving from the Chalet is Embu das Artes, a small town with local arts and crafts, several restaurants, a biergarten, etc. We do not accept children of any age. Chalet for two adults ONLY. Small dogs are welcome. No cats please! **Please avoid evening/late arrivals. Check-In NO LATER than 6:00PM (18:00 HRS) ** VIVO is the only company that serves the area. Other phone services DO NOT WORK. When/If possible, we request that guests collect and take with them their recyclables and garbage as their is no local collection and because of the environment around. We understand that for certain travelers this may not be possible. Guests are on their own for meals, entertainment, logistics, and medical support. Thorough planning/preparation/supplies are needed here as they would be in any of the worlds more remote locations.
