A private front entrance welcomes you to the guest quarters; 1,000 square feet of comfort including the Great Room with a cathedral ceiling, skylights, fireplace, and windows looking to the mountains and meadows. Two bedrooms and bath with pastoral views and a sunroom with eating area overlooking patio and garden. No kitchen access. A generous, hot gourmet breakfast, with afternoon cookies and tea are included. Sleeping quarters comfortably accommodate up to four of you in the Garden Room with its twin beds overlooking an expansive terrace and flower gardens, and in the Meadow Room with its queen-sized bed and library where a long bay window seat overlooks an evergreen topiary garden. Home is not appropriate for young children. We are fully licensed by the town and state. Both bedrooms have pastoral views of wildflower meadows and woodlands and are comfortably furnished with memory foam mattresses, luxurious sheets, duvets, a variety of pillows, black out shades for those who prefer to sleep in complete darkness, irons, bathrobes, slippers, and HDTVS, one with a DVD player. Abundant heat in cooler weather and refreshing mountaintop breezes on summer nights ensure comfortable sleeping. Adjacent to both rooms is your own private bathroom fully equipped with a hairdryer, many toiletries, a tub/shower combination, and a window for natural light and a beautiful view across a meadow. In the morning, you’ll awaken to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and breakfast in The Sunroom, a Provence-inspired setting with plants and the soothing sound of an indoor waterfall. Enjoy northern hospitality with homemade breakfast entrees such as Scottish scones, clotted cream and jam, garden herb omelets, delicious croissants, French toast with real New Hampshire maple syrup, homemade granola, and Belgian waffles with berries and homemade praline sauce. The Highlands is an elegant, tranquil space where guests can “get away from it all” and experience brilliant clear nights, double rainbows, and spectacular sunsets and sunrises. You are likely to see deer, wild turkeys, and other wild visitors who entertain “up close and personal” with nature shows. Ample room for parking is just a few easy steps from the front door, and after you get settled, you’re welcome to relax on the veranda, stroll in the rose garden, take a photo of the lupine field, or hike. The scenic country road is ideal for biking, jogging, or walking. Dartmouth College and downtown Hanover, a quintessential New England town with many cultural attractions, boutiques and restaurants, and the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center are only ten or fifteen minutes away. The King Arthur store and café are 20 minutes away, Quechee Gorge 20 minutes, and NH and VT’s National Parks, 30 minutes. About your host: I have been hosting guests at The Highlands since 1996 and love pampering them. I enjoy gardening, writing, cooking, traveling, and painting. I am a retired professional cellist, recently the concert series director at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site and currently an author, artist, and documentary film producer. Dartmouth Coach with regular schedule to Logan Airport and South Station in Boston and NYC is only 10 minutes away by car. Car or taxi required to get to The Highlands. We are a fully licensed B and B renting to one party at a time. Nightly rate includes service and cleaning. Most special diets accommodated. Home is not suitable for young children or pets.
