Studio apartment with garden and awesome views on a quiet cul-de-sac street in the artsy Santa Teresa neighborhood, with a park and cultural centre right across the street. Owned by A Brazilian-Canadian couple. Local Rio de Janeiro at its best! A studio apartment on Rua Murtinho Nobre in Santa Teresa is available for short term rentals. The studio is owned by a Brazilian-Canadian couple who work in the arts. It has a bathroom with large shower and kitchenette with all the basics. The apartment overlooks a garden which guests are free to use, boasting hibiscus plants and a pitanga tree and flanked by jambu and avocado trees. The garden has an outdoor shower for cooling off on hot summer days. As we are on a hill, the apartment has a fabulous view of greenery as well as of the Centro, arches of Lapa, Cathedral, Bay of Guanabara & bridge to Niteroi. The studio has been a home away from home for visiting journalists, musicians, architects, as well as to happy honeymooners. Rates include wifi, as well as basic amenities such as toilet paper, hand soap, dish washing soap, salt, coffee and sugar . There is a tap with filtered drinking water. For rentals over 10 days, there will be weekly cleaning with bed/bath linen change - please note that this weekly fee needs to be paid locally (R$ 150 in local currency which is about $US 25) as Airbnb has no way of including weekly costs such as this. This goes straight to our wonderful Jaqueline who cleans the apartment. Extra services ( clothes washing and ironing, airport pick up, guided tours etc.) available on request. The studio has lots of light! There are blinds, but please note that if you require absolute blackout/darkness for sleeping, this may not be the right choice for you. Our neighbourhood has an awesome vibe, and you will get to know the area and locals quickly. We are on the same dead-end street as the Parque das Ruínas cultural centre and park, as well s the quaint Chácara do Céu Museum. Our closest hangout is Bar do Serginho about 3 minutes walk away, where you can buy food, beverage and other basics you might need, as well as have capuccino and hot sandwiches for breakfast, or pizza, caipirinhas and beers while you shoot the breeze like the locals. We are less a 10 minute walk to Largo do Guimarães. the centre of Santa Teresa, where you will find shops, restaurants and a funky 50 person cinema which plays independent films. You can take the bus down to Centro, or walk 15 minutes down the hill to Gloria Subway, or to Lapa. For coming back up if you are not up for a walk, there are also motorcycle taxis outside of Gloria subway which will take you up. Santa Teresa has arguably the best street carnaval in the city- and all free of charge! We are the owners and although we normally live upstairs , we are currently away on a sabbatical leave back to visit my family in Canada . The amazing Daniel and Amanda are currently living upstairs and and will ensure a smooth checkin and help you make the most of your stay ! You will have your own private studio apartment which bathroom and kitchen. You will have shared garden access with the Daniel and Amanda (and their cat Ulysses) who are renting our house upstairs, and of course you will both be sharing this with a hummingbirds and marmosets (local monkeys)! Please note that we do not allow guests to bring external visitors to the apartment or garden. We are the owners and although we normally live upstairs we are currently away on a sabbatical leave back to visit my family in Canada. Daniel and Amanda who live upstairs will be your amazing hosts and help you with checkin and whatever you need during your stay. Once a place for upper-class homes, the neighbourhood of Santa Teresa nowadays is home to many residents who work in Rio de Janeiro's thriving cultural and artistic scene. There are no stoplights in the quiet, winding streets - many of which preserve the historic cobblestones - and this combined with the fact that Rio de Janeiro's only streetcar route still survives here gives Santa Teresa a small town feeling even though we are in the heart of the city. 12 minute walk down to Gloria Subway station or to Lapa Bus or Bonde (Streetcar) to Centro Motorcycle taxis from Gloria Subway up to our house (5 minutes/ R$3.50) Taxi, Uber readily available
