Enjoy our award-winning Guest House with breakfast included, and your own keys and entrance for privacy, in the heart of Santa Teresa, with tropical gardens and inviting pool. The ORANGE ROOM a queen bed, ensuite bath, and fan. *****COVID PROTOCOLS***** -All guests must be fully vaccinated for COVID and send proof before arrival -Breakfast is served outside at a distance at individual tables -There is no daily maid service. -Masks and social distance is required when interacting with staff Our Guest House is located in the heart of Santa Teresa, the city’s charming historic district. This 1930’s mansion was the former residence of the governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro. It features a swimming pool and 1700 square meters of gardens with small monkeys, butterflies, toucans, fruit trees and many rare flowers and plants of Brazil. All rooms have private bathrooms, and guests are given their own keys for privacy and independence. Santa Teresa’s cultural life, bars, and restaurants are only a few minutes walking (stumbling!) distance away. Five minutes down the hill takes you to Lapa, the home of Samba and Rio’s best bars, nightclubs and music venues set in the picturesque streets of colonial Rio. The beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana are a short ride away, as is the Cristo Redentor. We are very well served by local transport and the famous antique cable car of Santa Teresa. The owners are a musician and a documentary maker - Antoine has produced several albums of Brazilian music, including Real Brazil - and is a great source about the local music scene. (full name hidden) is currently making 101 Short Films About Rio - and shared her knowledge of Rio as local producer for Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations, when the famous chef and his crew were in town. The house runs as a Guest House so all rooms have their own private bathroom, and guests have their own keys and private entrance. There is a garden terrace for the guests, and they have access to the swimming pool until 20h00 in the evening. We are located in the heart of Rio's charming historic quarter, Santa Teresa. Often referred to as the “Montmartre of Rio”, Santa Teresa is a mix of cobblestone streets, colonial houses and panoramic views. Mingle with the eccentric residents and enjoy the Bohemian flavour and authentic, non-touristy experience. Within 5 minutes walk from our house you'll find a great variety of restaurants, bars, music, cultural centers and museums. We are well served by local buses and taxis, and the nearest Metro is Gloria station. The main sights of Rio are only a short taxi ride away: Sugar Loaf and Christ Statue - 15 minutes (25 Reais) Copacabana - 20 minutes (25 Reais) Ipanema 35 minutes (30 Reais) Lapa for nightlife and Samba music - 10 minutes (10-15 Reais) Centro and the historic center - 10 minutes (10-15 Reais) Please be aware that Casa Beleza is not suitable for those with mobility issues. The house has many stairs, and the local streets have many hills and cobblestones. Thank you for considering this before booking with us.
