Mango Loft
Second floor view of San Francisco, overlooking the Rio Chirripo. Banana and mango trees outside your windows, hummingbirds and butterflies too. Take the short path down to the river to cool off and enjoy the rapids and boulders. We are located less than 20 minutes from San Isidro de el General, which is a large city. Bus passes six times a day making it easy to live here without a car. There is gated parking on the premises and fruit bearing trees on the property (help yourself!) Wifi internet is available. There is an internet cafe in Rivas. For those with a car, there is gated, locked parking on the premises. I may be staying on the property from time to time. When I am not staying onsite, there will be a host living in one of the casitas to help you with check in and questions. Don't miss the our local Chirripo Feria on Wednesdays next to the school in Chimirol. And San Isidro Farmer's Market (Feria) on Thursdays where local produce and organic products are plentiful. Get aged cheese from Quesos Canaan, organic desserts from a local Chocolate Factory and enjoy the beauty of the Secret Gardens all within a half hour drive up the mountain in neighboring villages. Buy salad fixings and eggs from your neighbors. Eat oranges, mandarina, banana, mango, plantains and star fruit from the trees on your grounds (when in season). Two restaurants are walkable - Pura Vida open everyday except Tuesday and Buona Pizza open Thurs - Sunday. Feel healthier and freer than you've ever felt enjoying the Pura Vida in the safe and charming barrio of San Francisco de Rivas. Our community has a variety of dogs and cats that do not respect fences or gates. If you see a dog or cat (other than Tigre) on the property please do not feed it or give shelter. They do have a home even if they try to convince you otherwise. A bus from San Gerardo to San Isidro passes six times a day and a bus from Rivas to San Isidro goes both directions every 45 minutes. For those driving, expect to get to San Isidro in about 20 minutes and uphill to San Gerardo in about 30 minutes. San Isidro has an excellent bus and taxi system, easy to use and accessible. Plenty of banks in town to change your money and all services you might need you'll find in San Isidro. PLEASE NOTE: Costa Rica imposes 13% tax on lodging less than 28 nights. Airbnb will collect the tax through the resolution center after check in. Unlike the more touristy areas, merchants in our area prefer Costa Rican colones. Some will not accept dollars. Change your money in a bank or financial coop for the best exchange rate. Basic rule of thumb for the value of Costa Rican colorful bills: drop the three zeros and multiply by 2 for U.S. dollar equivalent. For example a red bill worth 1,000 colones is $2; a blue bill worth 2,000 colones is worth $4, etc. Rates are approximate and depend on posted exchange rate which can change daily.
