Bahia cottage was the beach retreat for a large cattle ranch in the hills. It has been our windsurfing, scuba diving and general hang-out place for the last 40 years. The original structure with bullet wood and cedar has been lovingly preserved. Native lumber is used for furnishings and cabinetry. A port hole from a shipwreck found its new home in the bathroom. Walk through the garden of colourful tropicals and step through a welcoming door to the relaxed open space of Bahia. Look through the cottage to the beach and sparkling waters of the bay. Exhale. Acknowledge that you are in paradise. You'll be drawn to while away the hours lounging on the beach or in the garden under the almond tree. Relax in hammocks in the garden or on the patio; or you might just be tempted to jog along the beach. Kayaks are provided, and other water sports and horse back riding are available in the Bay. For quiet relaxation on property, take a stroll around the garden. Spot the birds that may be nesting or on their own migratory vacation. See hummingbirds dart in and out of the spray when plants are being watered. Bahia is an easy drive of just under an hour from the Montego Bay airport, and 1 hour and 20 minutes from the Kingston airport. It is a few minutes walking from the Jewels Golf Course and Jewels Waterpark; 20 minutes by car from Ocho Rios with its bustling local life and visitor offerings, and generally not more than an hour from most major attractions on the North Coast.
