“Casa Ombu” is the ideal location for a short or long term stay in private and peaceful surroundings. The charming and brandnew “Casa Ombu” combines a modern and comfortable design with a tasteful decoration. It consists of 1 bedroom with 1 Queen-Size Bed (160x200 cm) and 1 Sofabed (120x200 cm) in the large dining living area with terrace, an open fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom. This wonderful retreat comes with all the modern amenities and is part of the very large hacienda "Gondwana". It is situated on 9 ha. of land, 10km north of the historic town of Colonia del Sacramento (a UNESCO world heritage site), only 1 hour ferry ride from Buenos Aires and 177 km from Montevideo. Uruguay is an ideal horseback riding country and guests are encouraged to give it a try even if they're not seasoned riders. Your spectacular view starts at the magical huge Ombu tree right in front of your living, goes over the horse fields, the vineyard and down to the ever changing view of the Rio de la Plata. The highlight of the evenings are the memorable sunsets over the river Plata with, at night, the background of the Buenos Aires skyline, the Southern Cross and the Milky Way overhead. Our large park offers you a variety of activities like swimming in the pool, walks through fields down to the river bank, cycle rides, snoozing in a hammock under the trees or simply relaxing on a deck chair. Croquet, pétanque and other ballgames are all available. The property also has an organic fruit orchard that will provide fresh seasonable fruits. If you are not already a birdwatcher, it is very easy to become one here. You can’t help noticing and loving the wonderful variety of birds with more than 450 species which have their homes in the huge eucalyptus, cork oaks, jacarandàs, cacaos, mimosa and acacia trees. Colibris flirt around the jasmine and bougainvillea shrubs.
