Comfortable pristine space w 2 private bedrooms in a charming fully restored 1850 home. Home was completely gutted and rebuilt by owners w special attention to historic details, millwork, marble bathrooms and updated white kitchen w high end appliances. Home is a short walk to the Hudson River w views of the Catskills, Mills Mansion and Dinsmore public golf course. We are 8 min from the Village of Rhinebeck, and just a few miles from Bard, CIA, Omega, Fairgounds, Kingston and Redhook Our home is in a quiet settings situated on 1.5 private wooded acres. There are two bedrooms w queen and double beds respectively. There is a Jack and Jill marble bathroom shared w each adjoining bedroom. There is a day bed in the basement that sleeps two for special situations such as teenagers, kids or one extra person. The finished basement is a cozy space with a table and several board games. However the systems and laundry room are also in the basement so it can get a little noisy if you're sleeping down there. There is an extra charge of $100 per day per person for more than 4 guests. Lounge in the great room in front of the fire or watch a movie on Netflix. Enjoy the summer months and fall foliage on the flower filled patio that is equipped with plenty of dining space and a beautiful large Weber grill. The chefs kitchen is a dream to cook in with everything you may need. Enjoy a glass of wine in the 1850 parlour or a good meal sitting at the antique (1905) table. Historical records indicate the home was on the route of FDRs Sunday drives. There are two porches to sit on during the warmer weather to eat, drink your coffee or wine and enjoy the gardens. The antique front porch has several antique wicker chairs and a table. The large deck porch over the garage has a large table and charis. The porch also houses the grill and is off of the living room for easy access to the kitchen. The quaint Village of Rhinebeck with its boutiques, shops, bistros and several restaurants is a short 5.3 miles away. Enjoy a short scenic walk to Mills Mansion where there are walking trails and beautiful vistas of the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains. Dinsmore golf course is across the street from Mills Mansion. Nori Park is just down the road from Mills Mansion w several hiking trails that run along the Hudson River. Lake Minnewaska is a 30 min drive w an intermediate hike that leads to a beautiful swimming area. Vanderbilt Mansion and FDR's home is 6 miles away with beautiful walking trails. Marist College is up the road a short distance from Vanderbilt. Omega Institute is an easy 6.3 mile commute. CIA (Culinary Institute of America) is also 6.6 miles (tow Hyde Park) Enjoy the area year-round. These are some of the highlights of the beautiful Hudson Valley Fall foliage Fairs and festivals- just about every weekend there is something. The Sheep and wool festival is very popular in the fall. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the county fair will be back next year. The kids can watch cows giving birth and the 4H milkshakes are to die for:-) Rhinebeck Farmer's market is open every Sunday from April-Oct It is special and iconic with live music great farm to table food and artisans -t really he best around! Other attractions within minutes from the home include: Culinary Institute of America (CIA) Ski at Belleayre, Catamount, Windham or Hunter Mountains The summer music festival at Bard College Omega Institute Aerodrome air shows Wineries (popping up all over!) Spas Golf Boating FDR Library and Museum Vanderbilt estate Eleanor Roosevelt's Val-Kill cottage The area is usually quiet. Traffic and parking at our home is free and easy. In winter we ask that you part at the top of the driveway if snow is expected. Parking can be tricky in Rhinebeck when there are special events in town. The Farmers Mkt on Sundays from April-Oct is usually crowded and Sundays are a busy happening in downtown Rhinebeck. We are available via phone text or Airbnb or even in person to offer help throughout your stay. There is an appliance/system notebook and a home binder in the kitchen hutch filled with information including many local eateries and activity options. Here are some of my favorite restaurants and grocers: Local Food: Our favorite restaurants in Rhinebeck are: Bread Alone for coffee and breakfast (prices are very reasonable) including artisan breads and pastries or simple organic food. Terrapin Bistro Le Petit Bistro Momonji Sushi Bar Gigi's (Italian) Posto (wood fired pizza) The Rhinecliff Hotel for beautiful views on nice days Aroi (Thai) and Cinnamon (Indian). The Red Onion is on the way to Woodstock and is very good -a little pricey. Two good grocery stores in Rhinebeck are TOPS (near the fairgrounds next to Williams Lumber) and Sunflower Naturals (in the Rhinebeck village). Hannaford is on 9G enroute to Redhook or also just across the Rhinecliff Bridge in Kingston. Adams Fairacre Farms is also just across the river in Kingston and is where we go for produce meats and fish. They also have good cheeses and baked goods. Our home is private, wooded, safe with close proximity to several of the most popular sites in The Hudson Valley. We have the best neighbors and want to keep it that way:) Tony next door walks his five barking dogs twice a day and can answer any questions concerning the Hudson Valley. Arnie and Marial are across the street. Arnie is a retired 80+ neurosurgeon and can often be found on his property on a tractor or with a chain saw in his hand:) The Village of Rhinebeck (and Dutchess County Fairgrounds) is a few miles up the road on Rte 9. The village has several restaurants and bistros, antique shops and an art theater (Upstate Theater). The farmers market on Sunday is one of the best with locally grown food, artisans and local musicians. Our home is midway between mansions/walking trails at Vanderbilt, Norrie Park, FDR, Mills Mansion and the center of Rhinebeck Village. We are also minutes from the Omega Institute and the Culinary Institute of America Additionally many of the best ski areas including Hunter, Bellayre, The Berkshires, Butternut and Catamount are all within driving distance. Metro North in Poughkeepsie (The Hudson Line) is 11 mi away. It is a 2h commute to Grand Central Station in NYC. The tickets are cheaper if purchased (Email hidden by Airbnb) but it is even easier through the app MTA eTix. The Amtrak can be taken from Rhinecliff which is 7.3 miles away and goes into Penn Station in NYC. There are binders full of information about the area, incl places to visit, walk and eat. Our home is on a cut road between 9G and Rte 9 (Albany Post Road) which leads into Rhinebeck. We are at the top of a hill that winds around and are on the right side of the road. Our home is dark green with white trim and windows. Due to being an antique home, it is too close to the road to park in front of the home. We ask that you park in the gravel turn-around at the top of the hill and enter through the front door. There is a narrow antique staircase leading to bedrooms PLease only use mild detergent (Mrs Meyers) on the marble and stainless steel. (No harsh chemicals) Each guest is given a code on day of check-in for the Smart Lock which is located on the side door The Grill Propane for the grill is not automatically provided. If you find tanks empty they can be refilled for $20 each at Williams Lumber in Rhinebeck (next to fairgrounds) There is a beautiful Weber grill on the deck. The cleaners do not clean the grill as a good cleaning can take up to 3 hours. It is easy and quick to keep up if cleaned regularly after each use and usually only takes minutes. So we just ask that the grill be cleaned by each guest if used in consideration of the guests that come after you. This will also prevent fires and improve the taste of your food. If you have never cleaned a grill before there is a great 4 minute video on YouTube: “How to clean your gas grill” which basically goes over the tips below Thanks in advance for your cooperation! Instructions for cleaning grill: 1. Spray inside of hood with simple green 2. Use wire brush for grill grates every time you cook 3. Remove grates and clean flavorizer bars if very dirty 4. Clean burners (skinny bars w little holes) w perpendicular motion so charred particles and carbon bits don’t get pushed into burner and affect your food 5. Heat diffusers and corners: Use paint scraper for any excess carbon bits 6. Replace drip pan if needed 7. If outside of grill is dirty use only Simple Green on stainless steel all grill cleaning supplies are on laundry room shelves over washer /dryer Being in the country there may be an occ bug or bee that sneaks in. We have sprays in the basement but we rarely have to use. Please wash your hands upon arrival The Airbnb guidelines for Covid safety are followed by our cleaners and are provided for our guests. The home is aired out cleaned and kept empty prior to each guest arrival. We try our best to keep essentials stocked. However Propane must be purchased if you find tank empty. Propane costs $20 per tank at Williams Lumber in Rhinebeck (about 10 min drive). Please leave fireplace running for no more than 4 hours. Do not leave on when you leave home or overnight
