The Waterfall Glamping Cabin is on a covered pine wood deck at Mountain Caapi Cottage retreat. This luxury tent cabin can be set up as a romantic hideaway with one queen bed for a couple, comfy arm chair and bedside table with lamp or with two queen beds and bedside table for two people to each have their own bed. Beds feature cozy comforters and Mexican blankets. There are electrical outlets in the tent to plug in your devices. This cool, quiet mountain retreat is next to Dominica's famous Morne Trois Pitons National Park, with hiking trails, waterfalls and rivers. From the Cabin, it's a short walk to the start of the popular "Middleham Falls" hiking trail. There is also an even shorter 20-minute walk to a series of spectacular waterfalls on a river. Enjoy the large pool and ethnobotanical gardens on the property. There is a large stone verandah and BBQ. The property is powered by renewable energy. To Roseau it is just a 20 minute drive. Guests have shared access to a glorious 45-foot pool with a diving board, that has a view of the Caribbean sea. Behind the pool is a large stone, covered veranda and BBQ. A few steps from the Tent Cabin are 2 hot-water, covered showers and bathroom area. There are a variety of fruit trees on the 3 acre property. They include banana, coconut, grapefruit, lime, orange, avocado, guava, carambola (star fruit), pomerac, cocoa, papaya, mango, breadnut, and breadfruit. Watercrest grows year round in the streams. For avid birders there are numerous birdwatching opportunities right on the property, including frequent sitings of the red-necked Parrots, several species of Hummingbirds, Thrashers and Tremblers to name a few. We, your hosts, are available 24/7 to help with your needs as we live on the property. The property is within a 10 minute walk of Cochrane village, a small farming community. At the centre of the village are some small dry goods stores, bars, rum shops a health centre and community centre. On Friday nights you can get local bar-b-q chicken meals at shops in the village, and also join a dominos game. It is recommended to rent a vehicle, as bus service between Cochrane and Roseau is limited, usually only a couple of times a day (early morning and at around 1:00 PM). Birdwatching Opportunities on the property: Sometimes, in the late afternoon, red-necked parrots make their way noisily up into the hills behind the property. Three of the Caribbean hummingbirds can be seen almost every day – the Antillean crested humming bird, and purple throated and green-throated Caribs with their long downward curving bills, both of which show brilliant colours in the sunlight. The Trembler, scaly breasted and white breasted Thrashers are always fun to spot. The Mangrove Cuckoo sometimes nests nearby; its distinctive call and striking banded long tail make this bird a lovely sighting. On nearby trails the Rufous-throated solitaire can be heard with it’s long melancholy notes, and can be difficult to spot.
