Sueños de Santa Catarina is a complex of comfortable, fully equipped vacation rentals with 2 bedrooms, a Sofabed, 3 bathrooms and sleeps up to 6 people. Prices listed are for 4 guests. The ground floor is open plan with a living room with fireplace (does NOT work) and sofa bed, then to the other side a fully-equipped modern kitchen and comfortable seating area for 6 people. Under the stairs is a full bathroom with shower. Sliding doors lead from the kitchen to a semi-covered, private outside eating area. Upstairs are two spacious double bedrooms each with their own bathroom with bath tub! The Master Bedroom is en-suite and has access to the wrap around balcony that offer wonderful views across the property to the spectacular volcanoes of Lake Atitlan beyond. The second bedroom's bathroom is right next door and their is a door leading to the wrap-around balcony. Each villa is equipped with a washer/dryer and have access to 1 parking space. We can take requests for a second car space depending on availability. However, there is parking in the town too. The inside Fireplace does NOT WORK - sorry! BUT: We have firepits for exterior use. The Perfect Get Away just outside of Panajachel and a great base for exploring the whole Lake Atitlan area. Please remember this is a small, un-touristy town, so there are not any tourist aimed restaurants or bars here, HOWEVER, in nearby Pana there are plenty along with everything else you might need during your stay. All guests receive extensive Welcome Notes and driving instructions after the reservation is confirmed. Santa Catarina Palopo is one of the 12 lake side villages of the famous Lake Atitlan. It is on the eastern side of the Lake just a short 10 minute drive by car from the comercial and transport hub of the Lake, Panajachel, better known at Pana. It is a small Mayan village which is distinctive due to its beautiful blue coloured 'traje' of the Mayan locals (traditional costume). This village is also one of the few in the country where many men still wear the traditional traje too. The village has hit the international news recently due to a fantastic and colour idea of painting the local buildings in the bright colours that are resonant with Mayan traje and traditional weavings. As more and more buildings become painted, the town is turning into a living, breathing work of art! All the brain child of a Guatemalan journalist, Harris Whitbeck, who was inspired by a similar project in a poor, urban area of Rio de Janiero in Brazil. It is a small, quiet, non-touristy village. As a result it is not geared towards tourists in that there are no bars, cafes or restaurants - these are all in Panajachel, about a 20 min drive away. There is one, large hotel next to the Villas which has a restaurant and also a swimming pool. Come and see the colours and magic of Santa Catarina for yourself! Private car is the easiest way to access Sta Catarina. Otherwise, Tuk tuk motor taxis can be found everywhere to transport you to and from Pana and around Pana, as well as to the public boat docks in Pana for boats to all the other villages around the Lake. The cheapest way is to hot on a pick up in Pana and gives the best view to as the road to Sta Catarina is one of the most beautiful around the Lake! Public boats can be found in Pana to go to all villages along the north shore and to Santiago Atitlan to the south. There is limited service to San Lucas Toliman. There are not public boats to San Antonio, pick up is the easiest way, but it is also a very beautiful walk. PLEASE NOTE THAT LISTED PRICES ARE FOR 4 GUESTS! Extra guests of a 5th or 6th guest will be charged at $20pp per night. Each villa is private to guests. The gardens and pathway down to the Swimming pool area and public beach is shared amongst the Villas. ALL FOUR Villas are available to book! So, perfect for groups as well. SORRY BUT NO PETS! Please note there is an armed guard at night for your extra security. If you wish to bring guests not staying at the Villa to the house PLEASE BE SURE TO ADVISE JUAN OF THIS AND ONLY DURING THE DAY TIME, AND NOT TO USE THE POOL AREA. CHECK IN is between 2-7pm. Please be sure to give an approx. arrival time at least 24 hours before arriving. Please also call the Guardian Juan from Pana (10 min drive away), so he can open the gates for you. AND if you are running late. There is parking (1 car per villa) and at night there is an armed security guard. We send extensive Welcome Notes to all our guests and have a set in each house for guests during their stay. Please respect the QUIET HOURS - 10pm - 9am Check In - 2-7pm. Please advice us ahead of time if you will be arriving after 7pm Check Out is BEFORE 11am PLEASE! Due to COVID we do not provide any condiments nor soap, shampoo, conditioner. There are cleaning products though under the sink in the kitchen and a broom in each Villa.
