Sunshine filled, bright garden suite, next to the entrance to the Galapagos National Park and the Charles Darwin Station, and a few blocks away from some of the best restaurants, art galleries and bars in town. Located on the far end of one of Puerto Ayora's main streets, accessible to the road but removed enough to be isolated from the urban noise. The suite has its own green garden space, and a large terrace to sit back and relax on after a day of adventures. Water: freshwater is a scarce commodity on the islands. Santa Cruz has a a number of water sources, which are generally brackish and not drinkable. The suite has two supplies of water: one that is not for drinking but which has been filtered and is used for showering, cleaning and cooking; and its own supply of drinkable water that has been physically filtered three times (including a carbon filter) and then processed again with ultraviolet filters. Owner lives nearby and is always available during the day, and at night for emergencies. The suite sits in a quiet neighborhood bordering the Galapagos National Park and the entrance to the famous Charles Darwin Research Station. Several restaurants, bars and galleries are located nearby, and the town center is within a short walking distance, and the oceanfront is just half a block away. The local fishermen wharf and the town's main dock are less than 10 minutes away on foot. Puerto Ayora has no public transportation. Most visitors and locals either walk, ride bicycles or take local taxis (which are pick up trucks) when visiting the highlands or having special transportation needs. There are officially approved fares for different routes, and taxi drivers can't change them. The suite will have suggestions of taxis and the scuba diving center that we use ourselves, as well as a sheet with local highlights and fares for each of them. WiFi: The Galapagos Islands are not connected to any undersea fiber optic cable, and all communications (phone and internet) are done through a satellite connection. As a result, there is no high speed internet available at accessible costs. While there is internet available at the suite, signal strength is variable. Most people on the islands use their phone to connect instead of the local fixed internet services. Water: freshwater is a scarce commodity on the islands. Pets: Pets are generally not allowed on the islands. Quarantine and biological safety regulations currently prohibit the entry of pets (including service animals) or any other living organisms to Galapagos.
