Carriage House in Heart of Downtown Burlington
Our three bedroom carriage house is tucked away in a private garden a mere block from downtown Burlington. It's the perfect spot for exploring the city or using as a base for your outdoor adventures year round. It's great for groups, business travelers, and families (see our kid-friendly amenities). The carriage house was built in 1893. Since we're no longer using horses, we've converted it into a cozy downtown retreat with 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. The private, detached building is behind our main house in the very heart of downtown. Walk to the waterfront, parks, great restaurants, breweries, music venues, playgrounds, as well as bike and ski rental shops. The first floor has a half-bath, a bedroom with two twin daybeds (with real mattresses) and a sitting area; an eat-in kitchen with complimentary coffee, a fridge, two induction burners, a microwave, and a constantly expanding full complement of kitchen supplies and utensils. Upstairs are two sunny bedrooms with queen-sized beds and a full bath with shower. We've done our best to provide modern amenities, but not much about a 120 year-old carriage house is still square, so we hope our guests will appreciate the authentic, historic feel of our home in addition to the brand-new mattresses. Your hosts are native New Englanders and world-travelers who've had amazing experiences with Airbnb all over the globe. We strive to provide the kind of homey, clean, and welcoming space we want to stay in. Lots of outlets, good wifi, and coffee. We travel frequently (especially when it's cold) and you might be interacting with our co-host, Kaz. If you have any questions about the space, feel free to ask! Guests enter along the driveway of our main house and pass through a fenced yard to reach the carriage house. There is a wheel-chair accessible ramp to the front door. Guests have private access to the whole carriage house and are welcome to use the shared patio and garden. We're happy to give you insider intel on the best trails, bike paths, maple creemees (Don't know what that is yet? Ask!), and hidden swimming holes. We can arrange foraging trips and private pop-up dinners on the lake with a local chef if that's your thing. We're equally content to give you a door code and let you do your own thing. You are likely to interact with our co-host, who helps us when we are traveling. Our street is adjacent to the downtown area. Walk to the Church Street pedestrian marketplace, restaurants and music, waterfront festivals, UVM events, bike and ski rental shops, and the famous City Market co-op. Be advised: This is a college town. Occasional late-night parades of students pass through the streets singing songs of youth and cheer. Burlington's public transportation hub is a 5 minute walk from our house and a bus stop at our corner takes you up the hill to campus. BTV airport is a 10 minute drive, and most of Burlington is easily accessible by foot. Beaches and forests are within bike distance, ski areas are 30-60 minutes away. Please be aware there is no parking on-site. Street parking is free but can be hit-or-miss, although most guests find parking on our street, we recommend using the overnight city garage, 2 blocks from the house, only $10/24hrs!
