"Easy Downtown" is a perfect place to work and relax if you are in Curitiba doing business. Its light and inventive decoration does not offend or tire, and, some of the creative recycled solutions actually amuse. We love to stimulate the imagination and help people understand that "less is more" even within the concept of comfort. We love suggestions on how to improve and are constantly updating according to guest imput! We consider AIRBNB hosting an ongoing group effort and expect our guests will treat us openly. We expect guest to take care of the space as if they were staying in the house of a dear friend or family member. Leaving the apartment clean and organized helps us keep cleaning time down, which translates into easier maintenance and lower overall cost. We, of course, pass this savings on to you and those who come after you. It is a totally separate unit. You will not have to share anything with anyone else except the building's hallways, internal side walk entrance and stairway. Unfortunately, there in no cooking on the veranda as neighbors' windows are all above that area. Strong smelling perfumes, colognes and cleaning products are prohibited, as we cherish our guests who are chemically sensitive and who will be occupying these same rooms right after you leave.... often on the same day. The owner lives on the premises and is available by phone and email, at all times to help you with whatever you need. A retired English-speaking tour guide, he is adept at finding you just what you want for the price you want to pay. He also has a preservation project on 185 acres in the "Mata Atlantica" (Atlantic Coastal Rain Forest) , a preservation area, which he hopes to turn into a private preserve from the money he gets from his rental units. Out in the sticks, there is guest space for day trips or overnight stays for those who want a little closer look at how precarious saving rainforest property is in Brazil today. What makes this apartment ideal is that you can walk literally everywhere you want to go ... through bustling downtown streets to lazy tree-lined neighborhoods. Most of the city's major cinemas, theaters, restaurants and shopping centers are located within walking distance. Curitiba is a traveler's dream. Low cost transportation, meals and entertainment are at your finger tips. Unfortunately, there is no parking available in the building, but, there are numerous parking lots within a one-block radius, some with 24 hour service. Access to buses and taxis is just right out the door and it is just a short walk to the interstate bus and train station, as well as, the old bus station, which has buses to take you to nearby communities within a 50-mile radius of Curitiba. This apartment is close to Curitiba's famous historic center's shops and restaurants, organic market, vegetarian restaurants, good cheap lunch buffets, great pizza, grocery stores, ground transportation (including taxis, buses, trains, airport shuttle) all within a few blocks. There is more and more as you spread out in all directions. The famous train ride through the mountains to the coast and back is a 15 minute walk. The interstate bus station and the inter-municipality bus station are both within walking distance. The municipal market for the best in fruits, nuts, grains, vegetables, fish is a short walk and has several restaurants and cafes inside, as well as, a tourist orientation center. Walking in Curitiba is what one does. Charming tree-lined residential streets are intermingled with the bustling transportation spokes that radiate outward from the 300 year old center of town. Along side these transportation feeder lines is where most of Curitiba's tall buildings and commercial activities are concentrated. The vast majority of Curitiba's population live along these rays of heated activity, which have created pie-shaped wedges of tree-lined streets with single unit dwellings and small multi-unit residential town houses as they project outward from city center getting further and further apart. As one gets further and further from the town's center, one encounters more and more of Curitiba's green neighborhoods. An out-bound journey will soon develop into hikes on woodland trails to the East or treks through the open rock fields of the second coastal plateau, as it rises into the west. But, if you are out that far, you are probably not walking anymore. This is a centrally located apartment with all the issues of downtown noise and night time security. Being home soon after midnight is suggested and being accompanied by a friend is always a good idea, when possible. Curitiba is a fast growing traditional community struggling with exaggerated poverty on it's outskirts, inadequate law enforcement and insufficient social-mindedness from the more fortunate. This means tourists must be alert and dress down so as not to call attention to opportunists. Taxis are cheap. Use them!
