Gondwana-Verde, The Elegant One

"Gondwana-Verde" is one of two spacious guestrooms ("Gondwana-Azul" has 3 beds) in our lovely guesthouse which is part of the very large hacienda "Gondwana", nestled among Cebu trees, with covered terrace overlooking the pasture, the Rio de la Plata and the most beautiful of ever changing sunsets. The lovely room has a King Size bed 200x200 cm (if necessary also available as two single beds), spacious living area, private bathroom and is tastefully furnished. If you require, we can provide an additional bed, This wonderful retreat comes with all the modern amenities, air conditioning, ceiling fan, minibar and guaranties you a high quality (Swiss standard). There is a fully equipped kitchen and a large dining room by the pool which you are welcome to use and that is exclusively for the guesthouse...Our large hacienda "Gondwana"is situated on 9 ha. of land, 10 km north of the historic town of Colonia del Sacramento (a UNESCO world heritage site) and only a one hour ferry ride from Buenos Aires and 177 km from Montevideo. Our park offers you a variety of activities like swimming in the pool, walks through fields down to the river bank, snoozing in a hammock or simply relaxing on a deck chair. The property also has an organic fruit orchard that will provide fresh seasonable fruits. If you are not already a birdwatcher, it is very easy to become one. You can't help noticing and loving the wonderful variety of birds which have their homes in the huge eucalyptus, cork oaks, ombu, cebu and acacia trees. Hummingbirds flirt around the jasmine and bougainvillea shrubs. Uruguay is an ideal horseback riding country and guests are encouraged to give it a try even if they are not seasoned riders. Gondwana-Trotando, with its 4 horses offers professional equine therapy. An 9-hole Golf course and tennis courts are available in the near vicinity, (5km). To brush up on your Spanish we can organize language lessons tailored to your needs with a professional teacher. We would be very pleased to organize your activities and help you with any further travel plans you may have. We speak German, English, Spanish, French and some Italian. The country is very safe, easy to get around and has a well marked road system. If you don't have a car we can organize a pick up service, or taxis are abundant at either the bus terminal or the Ferry from Buenos Aires.
