Secluded Rainforest Hammock Retreat
Looking for a peaceful Caribbean getaway? We have just the place for you. Come enjoy a hammock by the river and waterfalls in the mountains of Puerto Rico. Enjoy the privacy of a 9-acre farm surrounded by a serene Caribbean rainforest. Bienvenidos This hammock retreat has been set alongside waterfalls, located on an ancient Indigenous Taino farm, in the mountains of present day Buena Vista de Las Marias. The land is covered in a shady canopy of bamboo and fruit trees among the jungle. The air is fresh for adventure to explore the many trails throughout the farm. There are two valleys, each lined with natural springs to enjoy a revitalizing bath anytime of day. There are dozens of varieties of tropical fruits and organic vegetables to enjoy raw or cooked over a fireplace. Each of the hammocks has a mosquito net, fresh cotton sheets, and a rain fly to stay dry. There are four hammocks available anytime of day or night. One of the benefits to being at an elevation above the clouds, is there is a natural air-conditioning system running 24/7 for an irresistible climate. You will understand why we keep extra sheets in the hammocks. The coqui frogs will sing you their notoriously hypnotizing lullaby, leaving you with one of the most unforgettable nights rest. La Finca Cucubana spreads across 9 acres, revealing over 550 feet of elevation change from the entrance on the mountain ridge, to the river deep in the valley. It is all yours to explore. The farm is bordered by 2 spring fed creeks, so you will know the boundaries when you reach the water in any direction you walk downhill. The neighboring land remains undeveloped, with thousands of acres of pristine rainforest. I myself, Brett, live on the farm. It is my pleasure to show you around the farm, introduce you to the fauna and flora, and help make fire for dinner. If for any reason you would like an adventure, feel free to join me on foot or in the 4x4 Jeep that belongs to the farm. Lolita, a 14 month old puppy, was raised on the farm. She will make sure you always find your way back home if you follow her down any trails. She will not return home until she is sure you have had a great time on your adventure. Scott and his mountain puppy Radar have been living on and off the farm for over a 2 years. They are always available to make sure your experience here is unforgettable. Before arriving at the entrance of the farm, you will pass several quaint homes at the top of the mountain. They are all part of the same family who has lived in these mountains for generations. If you are outgoing and want to make friends with the locals, the neighbors are always playing dominoes at the corner where the farm connects with the main road. Although they are competitive and outspoken, this is there way of having fun as they enjoy each others homemade fruit wines and rums, or an ice cold beer from the sweet lady that owns the store. You can also find canned foods, tylenol, and other miscellaneous products you may need during your stay. It would be our pleasure to give you a ride from anywhere on the island. There will be a fee to cover our chofer, as well as their gas and tolls round trip. $100 from Rincón or anywhere else in the West. $150 from San Juan or anywhere else in the East. If you would like to rent a vehicle, we will provide discounted rates when you book with us. If you already have transportation figured out, congratulations! We are only an hour drive from most towns in the West and 2 hours from San Juan! Come join us and find out what the rainforest is all about. This is an off-grid sustainable farm. You will be happy to know that if necessary, there is plenty of power available for cell phones and laptops. The farm is equipped with an impressive bluetooth speaker, freezer, refrigerator, fan, and LED lights to keep the party going as long as your heart desires. Disclaimer: Electricity in the jungle is a luxury and not guaranteed, although we will do our best to make sure you have power available throughout the length of your stay. Thank you for understanding.
