Falls Retreat - 2 miles to Yosemite's South Gate

Only 5 minutes (2 miles) from Yosemite's Park South Entrance. This quiet mountain forest retreat is close to amenities and set among tall mature redwoods. Tenaya Lodge resort is a short walk away which has 3 restaurants and is also where you can get the bus service to the Valley. The local general store is also a short walk away and serves tasty made to order deli-sandwiches and also has snow chains you can purchase. Please read the space description for more info. There is NO kitchen access. The room is located in the upstairs portion of the 'Laughing Bear Cabin'. If you are looking for a unique and affordable alternative to a hotel room in an amazing setting, this is for you! Fish Camp is at 5000 ft and just 2 miles from Yosemite National Park's southern entrance inside the Sierra National Forest. You will experience a true mountain setting with northern Mediterranean summers and snowy winters amongst the shady pines and Dogwoods. Location Details Located a 5 minute drive from Yosemite National Park's southern entrance and surrounded by Sierra National Forest: - 3 miles to Mariposa's Grove of Giant Sequoias (largest trees in the world!) - Walking distance to Tenaya Lodge and the local grocery store. - 2 miles from horseback riding, and short hikes to waterfalls, etc. - 6 miles to Yosemite's village of Wawona - horseback riding, stagecoach rides, golfing, dining, pioneer history center - 10 miles south is Bass Lake -- with fishing, boating, swimming - 12 miles south is Oakhurst - It is the last major town you come to before you get to the park. It has 20+ restaurants, 3 grocery stores including Vons and Raley's, movie theater, gas stations, coffee shops, CVS and Rite Aid. We recommend you do any major grocery shopping and get gas in Oakhurst considering it is less expensive than it is in park. Room Details: One queen-size beds, microwave, mini refrigerator, private full bathroom and air conditioning. Towels, linens, hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner are always provided. *Does not include full kitchen, no TV and no coffee maker. - Tenaya Lodge is within walking distant and has 3 restaurants on the resort's grounds - The local General Store serves affordable, tasty, made to order deli-sandwiches and is open till 9pm during May-September. *Not handicapped accessible * No laundry * Only 2 persons allowed due to Mariposa County local regulations. * Quiet hours 10:00pm-8:00am Guests have access to their own room and private bathroom. They will share the main entrance to the house with other guests in two other guest rooms. Guests have no access to downstairs portion of the cabin. Access is self check-in via a smart lock. We will be available anytime via phone, but we are not always at the residence. Fish Camp is just outside Yosemite National Park's southern entrance surrounded by Sierra National Forest - located at 5,000 ft. elevation -- which means cool summer mornings and evenings and lovely daytime temps. Fall and Spring are cool (and beautiful, too!) -- In the late fall, winter and early spring, be prepared for showers and -- snow! Public Transportation: The free Yosemite Valley shuttle system provides convenient access around eastern Yosemite Valley, including stops at or near all overnight accommodations, stores, and major vistas. This shuttle operates all year from 7 am to 10 pm. The nearest bus stop near our cabin is Tenaya Lodge (stop ID 428) - approximately 5-10 minutes walking distance. Free El Capitan shuttle stops at El Capitan, Four Mile trailhead, and the Valley Visitor Center. This shuttle operates from mid-June through early October from 9 am to 7 pm. Bus service is available from Fresno to Wawona, as well as from Wawona to Yosemite Valley from mid-May to mid-September. Bus service is provided by YARTS. No exceptions. CELL SERVICE: Only Verizon & Sprint cell phones have full coverage. WINTER CONDITIONS: Yosemite experiences all four seasons which bring occasional stormy weather and power outages. Within Yosemite, winter driving conditions can exist from Thanksgiving to the March equinox, it is advisable to have chains between those months (even on 4-wheel drive vehicles).
