There’s a tree-lined fence along one side of the property, the 24/7 spring-fed clean water stream forms another side, a paved road bends round the front of the property, and the hill top across the street is yours to experience, or explore, also! Parking is a 1.5 car garage, a gated driveway, or on the street that ox carts, horses, bikes, and cars share with occasional hikers and joggers! The pace is slow, tranquil, relaxed for a quiet residential area in a agricultural, rural environment. We may “drop by” ... as we’re staying “allí no más” (‘just up the road’), on that little highway going north, the Pan-Am Highway... to Alaska! (lol— we’ll let you know!) Our admin officer, Andrei, started cutting our grass at the ripe old age of 6, with his dad’s machete; he’s now a University Graduated IT tech, and still has time to “Check you in!” Ana’s our housekeeping lady, her husband, Beto, grew up in this very home and keeps the trees trimmed, and her cousin is our handyman, and maintenance guy! Many neighbors are related, most are “family friends” and the ‘kids have all grown up to be parents’... With WhatApp, (Hidden by Airbnb) , or Face-Time, we can be reached by standing on the “Quebrada Delgado Bridge, and connect to Andrei’s WiFi! Cell service is OK, not the best, but what are vacations for anyway, eh? Friendly staff, service, neighborly “small-town” easy-going attitudes prevail in this residential, but rural/agricultural community! The village of “Las Colonias” has a simple community center, a school, churches, basic grocery shopping, and a Fútbol (Soccer!) Plaza/Field... a mere 3-4 minutes walk! What more could one ask? Ok: in 4-5 minutes in a taxi, your car (or walk & bus in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) minutes?) go to the “Town of La Suiza”: Stores, Big Grocery Stores, a Medical Clinic, Bars, Fast (or Slower-cooked?) Food, a Bank, are closer than the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) minute-away small “City of Turrialba”, with ‘muchos stores’, shopping, a hospital, and, yes, more bars & restaurants! So many places to go, to see, to enjoy, and “so little time...”. Relax, life is Pura Vida.... Cars, bikes, busses, taxis, Ubers, “local drivers” or”pirates” can take you to beaches, bars, restaurants, and stars (a movie theater!); walking in this community doesn’t mean you’re poor, driving a luxury car doesn’t mean you’re rich— don’t judge by appearances, and enjoy the unexpected, unregulated, unrehearsed, unconventional, underrated art of jus beig in a place you’ve never been, and you’re very likely to (want to) return! So enjoy the sojourn, despite all the hoopla, destinations are often less likely to bring as much joy as the simple places like La Suiza de Turrialba, in the center of peace-filled “Pura-Vida Land.” WorldClass River Rafting, and the World River Rafting Competition are and were run on nearby Class 2-5 Adventures! Trout are raised, caught, and prepared (fresh!) nearby. Renowned Grad School CATIE and The UCR have tours, dining, swimming pools, and much more! Numerosos Bars, restaurants, sight-seeing, and adventures await y’all in and about La Suiza & Turrialba, the places where ‘East met West’, and they live happily ever after! John & Cat’s famous “Birdwatcher’s Place to Go”, “Rancho Naturalista”, is only a few klicks, (as the birds fly); they charge MUCH MORE $$ than we do, and guess what? Most local ‘birds don’t think we’re so different from them!’ So keep your eyes Open! Oh! The Atlantic (Caribbean) and Pacific Beaches, San Jose, or locally famous Indigenous Pre-Colombian Ruins, (Guayabo National Monument), are only (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) + minutes away!
