Historically speaking, Elmhurst used to be a complicated neighborhood in the west side of Queens. Nowadays, Elmhurst is the thriving region of multifamily homes, and co-op and apartment buildings. There are many furniture stores along Queens Boulevard, which is also home to two malls, Queens Center and Queens Place. The region is also home to the most diversified groups of immigrants, especially people from Asia. This reflects clearly in the varied selections of restaurants. Drop by Marani for Mediterranean cuisine. The chanahi beef will melt in your mouth with sweet tomato sauce. Another recommendation is the Khinkali, minced meat large soup dumpling, which has all the juiciness and sense of completion. In the mood for some Cuban cuisine? Drop by Rincon Criollo. The oxtail stew, Vaca frita, yuca con mojo will blow your mind away. For drinks, definitely get the wine soaked fruits in sangria. A reminder: the portion is huge so definitely make plans to take home for breakfast. The building is located in Elmhurst , also known as the tiny Chinatown in Queens. It’s in a safe and very convenient and quiet neighborhood. Restaurants, bars, drugstore and banks are around the station.
