La Joyita Cabina on Pacific Ocean

Private, 2013 built cabina, fully equipped with kitchen and all amenities needed for self sufficiency. Hot water throughout, free wifi, covered porch, grassy yard and steps to a nice sand beach with boogey boarding waves, 20 minute walk to town. Fresh-water creek perfect for rinsing off salt water and safe for small children to splash around and enjoy. Private, 2013 built cabin with covered porch and sunset view of the Pacific. Hot water shower, full kitchen including outdoor, wood burning bbq. Walking distance to the town of Agujitas (Drake Bay), wild jungle-wilderness behind, ocean in front and (if needed), English speaking owners are close by. You have your own kitchen, washroom, bedroom, outside covered porch with hammock, chairs, table, swing bench. There are mango, palm and mandarin trees in the yard, as well as a large grassy area leading down to the water. Stairs shared with the owner allow for easy access down to the beach, or you can take your own path conveniently located right by the cabina's driveway. There are many activities in Drake Bay such as SCUBA diving or snorkeling at Caño Island Reserve, horseback riding, hiking (whether through the jungle to waterfalls, along oceanside trails, or in Corcovado National Park) deep sea fishing, canopy zip lines, night hikes as well as seasonal turtle nesting and whale watching. We can help you reserve any and all of these tours, or recommend to you reputable tour operators in the area. Our family has a house which shares the property with La Joyita. Someone is always there should you need any assistance whether it is arranging tours, finding a taxi, recommending restaurants, or helping you arrange the next leg of your Costa Rican adventure! That being said, we understand and respect that many would prefer limited interaction and we can adhere to that as well. National Geographic has called this region "the most biologically intense area in the world". The Osa Peninsula is located in the southern, sub-tropical Costa Rica and is still somewhat wild with gravel 'roads', occasional power outages and amazing flora and fauna. The jungle comes down a high ridge of wilderness to meet the warm, blue waters of the Pacific ocean. It would be the typical tropical paradise in most story books, the sun glitters off of the soft ocean waves and the jungle teems with wildlife and tropical birds. It is humid and hot but we are very lucky in that there is generally a good breeze coming off the ocean at our site all day. The town of Agujitas is about a 20 minute walk from La Joyita, or a 5 minute drive if you come in a rental. We can also arrange taxis if need be. There has been, in the past, a bus that runs along the (only) road into Agujitas, and when it is in service you can catch a ride - but it seems to be pretty sporadic. Drake Bay is a wonderful area and the local village, Agujitas is a laid-back, jungle town. Dependent on your method of arrival, excessive luggage can be a bad idea and tends to go unused in the heat and humidity of the Osa, so travel basics, quick-drying clothing and a sense of adventure are ideal. One can get here by boat which is a "wet" landing on the beach, by plane with regional airlines Sansa or Skyblue , or by road (seasonally) via rental car (4x4 strongly recommended) or taxi.
