Historic Schodack Landing Homestead
My home is an appropriately furnished (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Second Empire style Victorian house in the center of a small hamlet on the east side of the Hudson River. There are views of the Schodack Island Park from the cozy upstairs guest bedroom. Close to that room on the second floor is another small bedroom, a bathroom, and a room with weights and mats that serves as a fitness room. In pleasant weather there is the option to relax on one of the largest porches on a private residence in the Hudson Valley. It's a great opportunity to stay in a Victorian home with many furnishings from the era. The house was originally built for the owner of an ice house, as harvesting ice was major industry along the Hudson River in the late 19th century...Most of the original flooring, moldings, and hardware remain in house... I think you may enjoy staying here if you appreciate local watercolors and 19th century furniture and political history. Please note that this is not an upscale contemporary 21st century mansion, rather a residence with a blend of the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) s and (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) s. The 2nd floor.-- and some of the 1st floor. The 3rd floor is an attic and not available. I will be happy to assist you with tourist information, and converse with you... or leave you be. A quiet scenic spot, in a true backwater location of the Hudson Valley/Upstate NY---Yet only 15 minutes from downtown Albany, 22 minutes from the tourist shopping and dining mecca of Hudson to the south; 22 minutes from the intriguing railroad village of Chatham to the east and only 13 minutes from quaint, historic village of Kinderhook. There is the local hiking at the Schodack Island State Park- just a minutes away to the north. Also about 5 minutes to the north is the village of Castleton-on-Hudson, which has a bar, a diner, a convenience store and another restaurant. Great cycling and kayaking environments right outside the door. Route 9J is not very busy most of the time. Occasional Amtrak train will pass by down the embankment, but not very loud. Many bald eagles and blue heron populate the area. Less than 15 minutes from the Rensselaer Train Station, about 25 minutes from Hudson Station. Coffee and tea complimentary, and kitchen available to use.
