This is an urban/zen carriage house apartment, cozy yet spacious with the artists recycling hand at work. The neighborhood includes all the faces of America. I live in the stately house adjacent to the garage apartment. There is a back courtyard with a fire pit area. The house itself is on Detroit Ave. The apartment faces the side street which is Thoreau. The neighborhood is quiet. People walk up to Drugmart or City Hall nearby and early on weekdays middle schoolers can be heard going to the school nearby, but for all this people activity, this urban neighborhood is peaceful. Folks who stay here say it is perfect for a retreat .Looking to disappear for awhile? Come to "Nan's Nook on Thoreau." In Lakewood. We are family friendly. This could be a good spot for a couple traveling with a baby . We can accommodate. Because the Nook is totally private. I give guests their space. Text me with any questions. We are wicked convenient to downtown Cleveland, with the Rock Hall, Science museum, Playhouse Square , House of Blues and great sports venues. Gordon Square Arts District is a straight shot down Detroit Ave in Cleveland, and the Hingetown hipsters District a little further down on Detroit. This is part of a cool area known as Ohio City, bordered by West 25th, home of Great Lakes Brewery and our famous 25th Street market. Lakewood is full of neighborhood bars and restaurants. Mahall's is a hip Bowling alley-bar- concert venue five minutes away from Nan's Nook Lakewood is bike friendly and there are good shops to rent from. The main streets have bike lanes. The train station is 5 minutes away. Passes can be bought at Drugmart across the street. The train goes right into terminal tower downtown, which is Quite walkable. Uber is used a lot to avoid parking hassles. We are musicians and occasionally have band practices in the basement of the turn-of-century home we live in. Yes and the house is quite stately, a real museum piece if you are interested in design and history. Lakewood is famous for neighborhood bars. We visit one up the street on Fridays.
