This open air cottage has it's own private beach, Black Bay, and being a 10 minutes walk from the nearest road it is truly for the adventurous types! If you want to experience a rustic lifestyle off the grid, Black Bay is the place for you! Take a look at this visit of the area. (URL HIDDEN) Open air living on the ocean in you own isolated private jungle paradise... All the house and a kayak. I will be always available via telephone to help you. Orlis, the person who receives them also is provided to help. A few other vacation homes scattered around the jungle, but our cottage is the only one on Black Bay Beach. I have descriptions of activities underneath the photos in the photo album. Here is the town of Southwest Bay. (URL HIDDEN) Getting around is easy once you have taken the short hike out to the road. We can provide you with the telephone numbers of a few reliable taxi drivers. And if you aren't to picky you can ride in the back of a pick-up truck or a on the back of a motorcycle taxi. It is rustic open space living, so expect bugs, chickens and crabs to be around in the yard (and sometimes in the cottage!) A friendly dog or two many occasionally visit looking for scraps. Do not feed them unless you want them to stay with you for your entire visit! I've yet to encounter a scary dog on the island. Some may bark a lot but never do anything. It must be the relaxed island living. Also, There is a safe embedded in the wall for valuables. Arrival When you get to the island, they will ask you where you are going to stay. Tell them you are going to Southwest to stay in the home of Gloria Barney in Black Bay. The person in charge of the house is Enito Hawkins. Give him a call and arrange to meet at the supermarket Miss Cris on the road leading in to Black bay (cell ph(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) and (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)), from there he will accompany you to the house. There are always taxis at the airport. A well-known taxi driver can also be called before arriving on the island, Adrian tel. (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). What to bring, or not take, to the Black Bay house? Providencia has plenty of food available at many markets. It is recommended to buy liqueurs, canned goods, pastas, olive oil, toiletries, condiments etc. There are also vegetables, fruits and dairy products. It is not advisable to transport many things from the continent, or from San Andres, because the plane that flies to Providencia is small and limits the weight of the luggage to 10 kilos per person. The excess is charged and sometimes the overbook luggage is left behind to be deliver on a later flight, many several days, which means having to return to the airport or sending someone to pick it up. Near the house there is a supermarket where you can make the first purchases of food and other basic items. Dive sites rent equipment: masks, fins, drive suits, weights and more. The house has a refrigerator, gas stove, flush toilet and shower. However, you will not find a telephone, internet, TV, or sound equipment. The Comcel and Movistar cellular networks work almost all over the island. Only Movistar works in the house. There is an Internet service center in the town of Agua Dulce a couple of kilometers away. The island is not a sophisticated place so it is best to bring casual clothing with a warm climate. If your visit is in December or January it is advisable to wear long-sleeved shirts and pants for some cool nights The towels of the house can not be used on the beach so it is recommended to take appropriate ones for this. Always carry flashlights, even during the day since you never know if you will return after dark. The trail to the house can be very dark with rocks and roots to navigate. The flashlights that are in the house are for emergencies and should always be there. It is recommended to bring your own. Wear shoes with which you can swim. The beach of the house is called Black Bay because it has round black stones of volcanic origin that sometimes make some people uncomfortable when they walk on them. The mask and fins are recommended for snorkeling when going to other beaches and for swimming between Black Bay and the largest beach in South West (about 5 minutes). This is a restful and fun activity. Of course, this last one if they like to swim. They can also go from the house to the beach walking, or paddling. In December or January it is essential to use repellent early in the morning and at the end of the afternoon (mosquito hours). In Providencia they sell some good ones. Capacity The number of sleeping spaces, the water storage capacity and the house supply impose a maximum load of 6 people that can not be exceeded. Always keep in mind that water and energy on the island are scarce. Use them sparingly. The sanitary system is a septic tank. DO NOT throw papers into the toilet. Logistical support offered to those who rent the house If there is interest to have daily support for the kitchen and cleaning of the house, inform us in advance so we can contact a person. The cost of this help, which guests must pay directly there, is just under 20 dollars (50 thousand Colombian pesos) per day (except Sundays) at 8 a.m. at 1 p.m. This support does not include the washing of personal clothing and guests are asked to restrict this activity to a minimum since the water in the house is limited. No parties are allowed. Contact Do not hesitate to contact Orlis if a problem arises or if you simply want information about the island and the services offered. Orlis Henry. Tel: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). For more information or to solve problems, you can also contact: Gloria Cecilia Barney. In Bogota: Tel: ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) (EMAIL HIDDEN)
