Beach Front Retreat
Secluded 3 BR waterfront retreat less than 5 min drive to 'downtown' Woody Point with views of the Tablelands and Gros Morne. Experience rural Newfoundland and the Gros Morne National Park while enjoying the comforts of home. Fully updated kitchen with all amenities for cooking small or large meals and a view of the bay from the outdoor dining table. Three well appointed bedrooms; 1 Queen, 1 King and 1 bunk bed room most suitable for children. Queen and King rooms have access to an upper deck with 4 loungers for enjoying morning coffee or a nighttime view of the stars before retiring. The common area/living room is great for hanging out after your adventures but the real living here is done out doors. 3 decks offer views of Gros Morne and the Tablelands and outside entertaining/meals/BBQ. Generous upper deck overhang (waterproofed) allows you to spend time on the lower deck - rain or shine. 2 bathrooms (one with shower/tub, one with shower) and full laundry/utility room which doubles as a private office with spacious desk if you need a space to get some work done while admire the view. A 50’x50’ wharf that juts out into the bay provides a great space for enjoying mountain views or for watching whales, tuna, seals and eagles. The house is situated at the end of a laneway that runs off the main road to water. Very private and secluded with only 3 homes in the lane. No thoroughfare, so no trafic comes by. Your hosts, Paul and Michele are from Woody Point but don't live there year round so they won't likely be in town. They are available by phone/text and a caretaker, Tammy, is minutes away. This newly renovated beach front retreat is situated on 5 Hann Lane which is a 'cul de sac' of sorts or as close as we get to one in rural Nfld! The lane is accessed directly off the main road in to Woody Point, descending down a hill to the water - gorgeous views from here!! There are only three homes on this lane; the retreat is the furtherest house from the road and is not visible from the main road - very secluded. There is one outbuilding/boat house with an old wharf at the end of the lane that belongs to neighbours and brothers-in-law John and Jack. This is very typical in Nfld - as waterfrontage is at a premium (the mountains come very close to the sea/bay) we build and access our dwellings along the coast and have a road allowance between our properties and the sea. Great neighbours and wonderfully quiet spot but please restrict your activities to our property. Please park in the drive way on the property or on our newly constructed wharf. Lots of parking. There is a wooden boat (called a 'punt' in Newfoundland) on the property but it is not available for guest use. There are 2 kayaks on the property - please discuss with the owner before using as they are not included in the rental fee for the property and rental insurance does not include use of these watercraft. Picnic items available - blankets, tarps, coolers, follding chairs. 3 yoga mats for use on the deck. 2 telescopes for day or night sky viewing. If you can’t find something for your outdoor adventure - just ask - it may be there but just put away for tidiness.
