The Federal Suite at the Wisteria Rest
The apartment is beautiful and fully furnished in the historic District of East Haddam close to Rt 9 or 2, the Goodspeed Opera House, River House and CT Shoreline. Gillettes Castle, Fox Hopyard, Devils Hopyard, & more. Just 20 minutes to Middletown and wonderful dining. Located on the second level of a Victorian home in the Greek revival portion is the Federal suite. It offers a foyer leading to a covered front porch, the bedroom replete with period details such as plaster cast crown moldings and medallion, a marble coal fireplace used in a bygone era that imparts a touch of elegance of the time. They certainly did not have king size beds with pillow top mattresses and linens with such refinement as we are offering. The main living area offers cathedral ceilings, exposed beams as this room is in yet another era of historic construction & architecture. A full kitchen is offered along with a full bath room where one could choose to bathe in the Antique clawfoot tub or take showering you prefer. A spiral (helical if you wish total accuracy) staircase leads to a loft yoga or meditation area. A perfect place to do your own brand of exercise, paint, and be creative. We’ve added a CordaRoys chair and ottoman that converts to a full size mattress with pillows for an extra guest. 2 acres to walk about and close by to several great parks and trails. The entire apartment and common areas. Need to print some documents? No problem! We offer access to our high speed duplexing laser printer and conversely a scanner if you need to digitize something to email. We will meet you at check-in and are available for anything. I mean anything you need that is in our power to provide to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable. You'll be left alone to your privacy thereafter. By the way... I am a licensed REALTOR and if you are relocating we are the perfect match! I love the ability to grab a quick walk down a cul-de-sac adjacent to the property or longer loop around Ballek's farm and back. There are countless walking trails and open space preserves to walk and discover with wonderful flora and fauna. Nesting bald eagles are a huge attraction and I love seeing the elusive pileated woodpecker on my walks at Gillette Castle or Machimoodus State parks. Golfers have their choice of two courses within town borders and many more if ok within a 20 minute drive. There are of course several restaurants in down but our favorite nearest is Rustica just south and over the charming swing bridge. It's truly authentic Tuscan food at moderate prices in nice atmosphere. Of course Middletown is our go to destination when one wants a plethora of culinary choices to satisfy your cravings. There's plenty of places to drop a boat in and fish or do whatever else floats your boat. East Haddam is the eighth largest town in the state of Connecticut in area at 54 mi.². It offers miles of rural scenic driving. You are under 25 minutes to either the Connecticut shoreline or Middletown. By the way... I'm a licensed REALTOR and if you're here to find a home we are the perfect match! This is not a town where one survives easily without transportation. While I have never needed to try Uber or a taxi service I'm sure one could be called but a rental car or owning your own vehicle is the way to go.
