This area is a great location to enjoy outdoor activities. A private dock, large yard, nearby woods, trails, beaches, and treks along the river leave you recharged and enriched. The suite is not designed for staying indoors, so if you are booking with us, you’ll create the best memories enjoying the outdoors. If the weather is inclement, there are games, books, and communities within a 15 minute drive for action and excitement. You'll have your own entrance and your own shower and bath. There is a small kitchen with induction cooking facilities and a fridge. For your comfort the suite has a mini-split heat pump. Air Conditioning in the summer and quiet pleasant heat in the winter! The space works well for families with a couple of children or traveling friends who are busy and active. We provide the basics for cooking and breakfast - butter, cream, jams and honey, and delicious coffee. There are comfy pillows and sun-kissed sheets and pillows. A cozy electric fireplace adds ambience. Plenty of pillows, delicious teas, a fridge, induction cooking, and a bathroom with a bathtub are all yours! PLEASE REMEMBER: this is a suite in a private home - not a luxury resort. The kitchen area has a lower ceiling. If you are over 6’2” you might have to mind your head! We have a lovely grillzebo for cooking wood-fired Pirate Pizza (offered on certain days of the week - please inquire), screened area for lounging and eating al fresco, a gas bbq, a large yard for croquet or for tossing a frisbee about, and plenty of space for walking or peddling about to watch the sunset. Our fire pit is great for cooking hot dogs and marshmallows, or even hamburgers. Wanting a bit more adventure? We have a schooner that can whisk you back to earlier days on the LaHave River for pirate adventure. Needing a swim? Five minutes by car to the sweetest most wonderful swimming lake ever - Beck's Lake. Our location is ideal for sitting out at night while watching the stars and listening to the loons or the owls. Don't hesitate to ask for anything your heart desires! There is parking on site. Only 7 min to Bridgewater and 15 min to Lunenburg. Heading to the beaches? So many to choose from - between 20 min to 1 hour away. Provided in the suite is a guide with maps and info for destinations and activities. We are more than happy to make a few recommendations. We enjoy creating Pirate Pizza in our wood fired pizza oven and getting to know our guests. During the winter we have snowshoes, poles, and trails to enjoy. There is also a fire pit for marshmallows or hotdogs. In the summer months we can bring you sailing on our wooden schooner or you can enjoy booking a night or two. There is a marvelous lake a few minutes away for fantastic swimming. If you need directions to the beaches or great tourist destinations we are happy to do this. If you prefer peace and quiet, please feel free to enjoy the calm on the dock or take a stroll down the road. If you enjoy the water, we have kayaks, a rowing dory, and croquet. Evenings can be spent by the fire pit. You are welcome to come and go as you please. We are on a private road which has cottages with summer guests. There is a great road for walking with views of sunsets, the river, huge trees, night time stars, and wildlife. Please be courteous and aware of the privacy of the neighbours.We hope you will enjoy some simple treks or time in the rowing dory or pedal boat to enjoy the sunsets and stars! You can ride a bicycle, but most people will need a car to travel to Bridgewater (7 min away) or Lunenburg (15 min away). Beaches are all about (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) min away. We are situated in a great spot for reaching other locations like Keji Park, Carter's Beach, Liverpool, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, LaHave Bakery, the Ferry, and all the Beaches. Nearby are wonderful bakeries, restaurants, museums, and farmers' markets. There is no public transportation, but there are taxis that can be called. Our house is about 7 minutes from Bridgewater, where there are major grocery stores and the Liquor Store. You might want to plan to pick up some food before arriving so you can enjoy our area. We are on a quiet private road which has summer cottages along the way. Please ask for instructions if you would like to use the pedal boat, or row boat, or kayaks. Just head down the small road if would like to go walking. We can give you directions and suggestions for attractions to see. Cell service in Nova Scotia can be a bit spotty, especially if you are a Bell customer. We have excellent WiFi for apps to aid in phoning (using (Hidden by Airbnb) , Facetime, What's App, (Hidden by Airbnb) and others). If you have Bell Canada, you will need to use the phone service outdoors.
