Do you know that place in the country we visited when we were children? With a little church, a warehouse, a rooster crowing at dawn and a smell of burning wood on the stove? The Vale das Princesas is one of those places that are engraved in our memories forever, especially for those who want to leave the city's confusion, relax and enjoy a time that passes more slowly, a simpler life in total integration with nature. We take advantage of our day in ecological walks, long pedaladas by the various trails and roads, river baths and waterfalls. Here we find tranquility to relax by the pool, read, meditate, cook, philosophize ... Welcome! There are some route options to get to the Ranch and what we use most is the region of Petrópolis. For those who leave Rio this is the shortest route, using BR-040 - Washington Luis Highway, for approximately 75 km until the exit of access (already in the municipality of Petrópolis). Soon after 6 km in a road of blocks and then the historical Way of the Emperor *. In this last stretch are 10 km of dirt road, almost trail, inside the Tinguá Biological Reserve (Environmental Protection Area), until the arrival at the ranch. Here we do not advise the use of very low cars, as they can scrape the bottom. A normal car without traction, like a Palio, already passes well on the road. Be calm, come slowly and calmly to enjoy the look. Do not worry ... we will pass the link with the route via (Hidden by Airbnb) Maps. We have other accesses, through BR-040 (Araras and Vale das Videiras) or Via Dutra (Miguel Pereira or Paty do Alferes). Remembering that in the final stretch all are made by beaten ground roads, slightly better than the access by the Emperor's Path, but not so fast and original. We will be on hand to guide you if you want to come by any of these ways. Important: There is no public transport on site, and a car is required to reach the Ranch. If need be, we offer transfers from the bus stations and airports. But if you are adventurous, you can come by bike or walking ... In the best style Backpacker. Estimated times and distances to the Ranch: Rio de Janeiro - 2:05 - 82 km Petropolis - 1:15 - 26 km Teresópolis - 2:00 - 74 km Miguel Pereira - 1:24 - 29 km Paty of the Alferes - 1:10 - 25 km Itaipava - 1:10 - 38 km Vale da Videiras - 0:45 - 15 km * A brief history of the Emperor's Way: It was from the creation of Petrópolis in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and the arrival of the Germans in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) that the authorities of the Fluminense Provincial Government decided to open a "bush road" to supply the colony with agricultural production "of those more fertile and less rugged, "as well as encouraging the manufacture of cars and seges (carriages), as mentioned in the report of the president of the Province of Rio de Janeiro, dated May 5, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) As soon as it was opened, the Emperor's Way was traversed by Charles Ribeyrolles, who describes it in his book Brasil Pitoresco as "panoramas that are splendid paintings" (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and presenting magnificent scenarios that, even today, overlook the Guanabara Bay. It was the frequent cavalcades of D. Pedro II, which originated the name of the Emperor's Road (or Road). Like his father, D. Pedro II, he was a great knight and, always interested in intercommunications, he traveled several times the Way, a fact well documented. Even today, the Emperor's Way, is located in the middle of the Atlantic Forest and is a perfect trip for lovers of ecology who can practice sports such as hiking, horseback riding or bicycle trail for all its length.
