This will increase our capacity to provide truly unique and beautiful accommodation to larger groups. 4) Would love to visit but can't stay over? We will be offering delicious Farm Picnics for guests to take into the fields for a delicious back to nature experience. The farm is located 3km along a (usually!) reasonably-well maintained gravel road (off the main road in the area). This is a residential road however there are no street lights so please take this into account when planning your travel and arrival. The farm itself has limited night time lighting. Parking is provided approximately 100ft from the cottage and guests will need to walk over grass and gravel footpaths. Please notify us if you have a vehicle larger than a standard size automobile so that we can plan best for parking. With current Covid precautions, we are currently not able to offer farm tours. Guests can however meet our girls (goats) outside in their pasture dependent on daily weather conditions (goats are fair weather animals and will not be outside during inclement weather). Sturdy footwear and a degree of agility is required. Self-directed farm walks in the fields or woods is possible. If you have bikes, the trail system to Mahone Bay, Lunenburg and Bridgewater is all accessible. Private cheese making and other classes are sometimes possible. We love visitors and part of our focus in farming is educational. We often teach and have farm helpers from other countries. I have alot of domestic and international travel experience, having lived overseas for years and traveled to over 50 countries. Farm tours are often possible but cannot be guaranteed. Guests can interact with the farm animals (pigs, goats and poultry) with assistance. Pls note that a farm is not a safe place for unaccompanied children so we must insist parents be with children at all times. Just 7-8 minutes from Mahone Bay, our road is 4 km from exit 11 of highway 103. Lunenburg is also relatively close. This is one of the original properties settled by Germans who immigrated to this region in the 1760s. The beaches of the south shore are all accessible and MushaMush Provincial park (swimming lake) is a 12 km drive straight up the road inland. A bike can get you there if feeling energetic! ** Please take note that it is essential to follow our easy driving directions, and not rely on popular navigation systems - which may direct via non-functioning roads. We are just off the main 325 road, and this is the ONLY way to safely reach us. There is very limited public transport on the south shore of Nova Scotia (or elsewhere in rural Nova Scotia). A car is essential to access the property and to get around. ** Please take care when planning your route to reach us as online directions often direct via non-functioning roads - following our standard and easy directions is very important. We are a working farm, which includes livestock guardian dogs (no guest interaction permitted). We are strictly no pets (no exceptions) and no smoking facility for guests. Tours, breakfasts and classes must be pre-booked and may be cancelled if farm work interrupts (we try our best to accommodate but farming is not always predictable - we are very sorry if this happens). Cheese, charcuterie, jams, eggs, organic veg etc are often available to purchase from our onsite farm shop. Farms (and nature) can be noisy places including at night (owls, roosters, dogs etc), ear plugs are provided for light sleepers, though are rarely necessary.
