Quiet Country Cottage
A reminder for all US citizens wishing to travel to, or through Argentina, you will need visa before traveling. These can be obtained online at: (Website hidden by Airbnb) Quiet, peaceful, surrounded by gardens, old mature trees, and dozens of different species of song birds. For those guests from the northern hemisphere, one of the “must see” features while visiting the southern hemisphere is the night sky. Being on the “other side” of our planet you get an entirely new and different perspective of the universe; even the moon appears to be upside down compared with the northern hemisphere. The large backyard of the quite country cottage; with no city lights to spoil the view, provides the perfect place with which to view the southern constellations. Since we live next door to the cottage, our guests can have as much, or a little interaction with us as they wish. For example, my husband often goes to the near by woodlands and beach for bird photography, and our guests would be welcome to go along with him. The bungalow is location at the edge of the petite, “one-street” town of Riachuelo. It is set back 25 meters from the street behind several large pine trees. There is a small, but moderately well-stocked grocery store 500 meters down the street toward the picturesque bridge over the Arroyo Riachuelo. Continuing over the bridge for four kilometers are two wonderful beaches. The Matamora is a long sandy beach perfect for beach combing and is nearly four kilometers long, and is a popular place in summer to go swimming. The other is a tiny secluded beach the next to the rocky point of Punta Piedra, which is a popular fishing spot. There is local bus service to Colonia twice daily during the week. The bus will stop directly in front of the cottage. Additional bus can be taken at the highway, roughly 600 m up the street.
