Sylvan Harbor Cabin #1

Built in the 1940s, Cabin 1 has been modestly updated but maintains a rustic, rough-around-the-edges feel. With all the essentials for an extended stay, it is cozy, clean and functional providing a nice, quiet base for relaxing and enjoying the local beauty. Our simple cabins are quiet, comfortable, and clean. They are a good value for the space and amenities provided. Our two bedroom cabins are ideal for 4 or less people. Each cabin has a deck with table, chairs and barbeque. Local, state and national parks are within a 5-20 minute drive. The town of Trinidad has several shops, restaurants, grocery store, gas station, playground, hiking, and great views of Trinidad harbor. Because of our rural setting cell phone access is patchy depending on your service provider. On our property Verizon / CDMA phones seem to have good coverage, whereas ATT / GSM phones do not. We interact minimally with our guests as we usually have many other responsibilities. However, we are always open to and enjoy visiting. We are situated on one of the most naturally beautiful drives on the west coast. Our specific location, however, is modest with views of second growth redwood and spruce, the surrounding property, RV park, outbuildings, neighbors, and the road. It is quiet with exception of intermittent traffic noise from the road. Having a vehicle is the best way to get around. However, one can walk via Patricks Point Drive to local beaches within 1/2 hour. A bus is available in Trinidad to the neighboring towns of McKinleyville, Arcata, Eureka, and Fortuna, all within 1 hour. The Eureka/Arcata (ACV) airport is within a 10 minute drive. PLEASE READ: The bedroom doorways in Cabin #1 are open with curtain closures, but do not face one another. This doesn't give the bedrooms as much privacy as if there were proper doors. Also, with regard to privacy, the bathroom door does not have a lock. Also, the cabin is located on a larger property that is home to one large residence, many outbuildings, and an RV park. During the summer months the cabin is surrounded by RVs. Despite the proximity of the RVs, the cabin still offers a quiet place as our customers are usually very respectful and quiet. Some of our RV guests have pets, which are required to be on a leash and cleaned up after. Laundry facilities are located in a separate building for a small fee.
