Situated on the dramatic eastern coast of the island , Carambola Cot is a cosy studio apartment that readily affords the visitor the opportunity to enjoy and experience true Barbadian hospitality. Located Near Industry Hall if you are looking for us on the map ,tucked away in an area called Lyders Hill .Its a charming little village on the main Highway 5 with a five minute walk to nearby beaches and sight seeing on the East Coast . The studio apartment is part of the family home complex of Vance and Dolores Taylor who live on the property in the second floor apartment. Carambola is a self contained studio apartment that can comfortably sleep three. The main sleeping arrangement can be made up as a twin or as a double king size bed and there is also a twin pullout sofa . A mini refrigerator, two burner stove top ,toaster and kettle are among the cooking facilities offered along of course with pots pans flatware and cooking utensils and cutlery .The dining area is comfortable and inviting with TVfor relaxing entertainment. There is a small patio at the front with chairs and a table for relaxing or dining outdoors . The washing machine for doing laundry is shared with the Taylors but a separate clothesline for drying is available. There are no pets on the property. The immediate neighbor hood gives you the typical Barbadian village life experience, so if that is what you are looking to discover look no further than Carambola Cot. Typical Bajan sights will be the black belly sheep ( they may look like goats because they are woolless) the Bajan Green monkey and the mongoose , you can encounter any or all of these on your morning stroll through the neighbourhood or while walking along the cliffs, harmless and totally endearing ,the sheep will be tethered but the monkey and the mongoose are part of the wildlife. All along the cliffs you will hear the chirp of the grass canaries nesting in the clumps of grass and for sure you will meet the white cattle egret most often perched on the back of a cow . Industry road comes alive in the late afternoon into the night at Baby Bomb's Sports Bar. This is a typical rum shop which is a staple in Bajan village life. The neighbor hood guys gather here to play dominoes , cards, drink rum and beer and generally relax . This is the absolute stress reliever , dress is extremely casual and all are welcome with the only expectation being that you buy a round of beers !! For teetotalers a Malt or a Plus will do ( those are local drinks , get here to find out what they are). Now if you happen to be in the area on a Wednesday you will be in time for a treat that is unique to Industry Hall !!! A full on local Cookout on the street !! This is the day that the guys cook ,on an open fire at the roadside, enough food to feed the entire neighborhood, visitors are free to pull up a seat and grab a plate or bowl ( depending on what's on the menu) no reservations required. The area is safe in the day or night , most residents have lived here all their lives and are extremely friendly and hospitable, especially to tourists. A short distance from Baby Bomb's Sports Bar is Deebils Point Cafe and Art Gallery which offers a contrasting experience. The owners Frank and Karlene Cossey have transformed their home and created a cosy garden setting for their charming Cafe which features specialty coffees and teas along with Karlene's signature Chocolate Supreme , Lemon Poppy Seed and Cheescake to mention a few. There is also a Starving Artists Menu offering simple but delicious pasta or rice dishes. Franks is known as the barefoot artist and the art gallery located inside their home reflects local scenes in both oil and acrylic along with the work of local and regional artists in various media including Jewellry . This is an ideal spot to spend quiet evenings and enjoy intimate dining experience
