Oughterson Plantation - The View Villa

The View is a two bedroom villa facing the ocean and catching the breeze and is set apart from The Barn & Cottage and away from the pool for those who wish to enjoy the facilities but prefer the quiet. It's open plan style extends to front folding doors which fold away completely opening up the view of the sea in the distance and giving a rural panorama of cane fields and grazing ‘black belly’ sheep. Ideal for party members who are happy for the rest of the party to carry on without them! Its large wooden deck has hammocks and seating, 2 sofas in white canvas giving a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere to the coral stone interior. The kitchen bar faces a view through the 22 foot folding doors that carries the eye to the far horizon and it sky scape of Caribbean blue and white scudding clouds. The back balcony looks down onto the bamboo pond where snapper turtles can be spotted & where the cattle egrets come to roost at night. There is a ramp at the rear for wheelchair access and a barbeque with outdoor lighting. The King beds can be separated into two twins to accommodate families. Coconut palms line the pond with flamboyant, tulip and annato trees surrounding it. You will have a place to park outside of the Villa. The grounds around the Villa are shared, so you can socialize with the guests staying in the other two villas or you can retreat to The View for some downtime. Nearby is Crane Beach, recently granted status by the NYTimes one of the 10 best beaches in the world. Oistins Fish Market and local produce stands will make your meals memorable. And of course your are welcome to hundreds of miles of beaches. The drive up the eastern coast is as spectacular as any Big Sur California or Patagonia drive. Take a boat ride with Peter Milne from the Yacht club or twist his arm to go waterskiing. Diving, snorkeling and cliff jumping are a few other unique nearby adventures. Or don’t do anything adventurous. Sit by the pool and read a book. Take a walk through miles of caning roads in the early morning mist of Barbados. Breath. Converse. Cook. Be warned this is not for the Disney or luxury resort crowd. This is open-to-the-trade-breezes lifestyle as the Bajan’s live. You will not be living ten feet from your suburban neighbor’s back yard. You will not see another condo from your villa. No tour schedule, no concierge tipping, no reservations for dinner and you may have to suffer a frog crossing the doorstep or the resident plantation dogs who wander in at any hour. This is life as you would live if you were to move to Barbados – who knows, after staying at Oughterson Villas, you just might. A car is best, but there is also bus transportation and taxi service available. I live here with my 7 dogs & they will be sure to greet you daily!
