Cozy Barndominium Loft in Quiet Neighborhood
A modern, but cozy, 562-sq.-ft. loft apartment with full kitchen and bath, queen bed, twin Murphy Bed / desk, living room, walk-in closet, FireStick, Roku, DVD player and WiFi. Note: We’ve implemented Airbnb's Enhanced Cleaning Guidelines, and we have both been vaccinated. I (Gill Wagner) built the apartment in 2013, then repainted in 2016 and furnished it for Airbnb, and repainted and installed a new floor in 2022. It can sleep two in a queen bed and one in a custom-built twin Murphy Bed. We have a Roku TV in the living room configured with a FireStick and the TiviMate application, which gives you access to 3,000+ network, cable, national and international channels (including 800 US Local channels -- so you might be able to watch your home-town news anchors and shows). This also allows you to log into your own streaming services such as Neflix, Hulu, HBO, Cinemax and so on. We are next to a highway, and if you open the windows you will hear some highway noise. But more than 100 guests have commented on how quiet it is inside the apartment. A service or assistance animal would create a health hazard for us due to our allergies, so we can't host guests who travel with animals. (Sorry!) You have free parking in our driveway, and independent, locked access to the apartment. The parking spot is 150 feet from the apartment with eight steps down as you traverse the sidewalk. There 14 are stairs to climb, with no access for wheelchairs. You may use the shared patio just up the yard at the back of the house -- the way we see it, when you're here, you're family, and we hope you feel the same before you leave. Cindy and I will give you our cells; you can call or text any time with any questions. Or feel free to use the Airbnb messaging interface instead. And if you want to sit on the patio and chat some time, just let us know -- plenty of room to social distance. But if you're the type who would prefer privacy and solitude, this is an independent living space. You decide how much quiet time you'd like. For business travelers, I'm a business professional too, so while you're in town, I'm happy to connect you to the business leaders I know if I can. When the weather is nice, we often sit on the patio and socialize with neighbors or light the fire pit. We consider it common ground, so if you see us out, by all means join us and relax for a bit if you want! You'll feel at home here (if a quiet neighborhood fits your definition of "home"). Our barn sits on nearly an acre lot, among the rolling hills of South County. We're close to an interstate, so you can hear the highway noise when you're outside. But the highway walls help. Trees abound, the neighbors are nice, and crime is virtually non-existent in this neck of the woods. We've lived here since 1985; it's a great neighborhood, not far from everything you'll need. We are a mile from two major bus lines, and taxis and Uber are options, but it's best that you have a vehicle while you're here. Enterprise Rent-A-Car is just 2 miles away, if you don't rent from the airport. That being said, there are hundreds of retail, entertainment and food-related businesses within a 2-mile radius of where we live. So you should never have to go far to get whatever it is you need or want. While the space can accommodate non-business travelers, it's also got everything the traveling business professional or salesperson will need, including a desk with wipe board and WiFi. We're located near the intersection of two major interstates (I-270 and I-55 in South County), so both Clayton and Downtown St. Louis are just 15- to 20-minute drives away. Resources abound nearby. Within 2 miles are Target, Costco, a major retail mall, FedEx Office, five large grocers and a 20-plex cinema. Extend that to 4 miles, and you could visit the beautiful Grant’s Farm, enjoy nature on an 8-mile paved biking and walking trail, or wander through a 50,000-square-foot antique mall. Within minutes, you could be dining at any one of hundreds of restaurants – from fast food to fine dining. Yet, your accommodations are tucked into a cozy neighborhood with rolling hills. As for comfort, you can adjust the thermostat yourself. The thermostat is limited to not colder than 72 in the summer nor warmer than 72 in the winter. But we’ll accommodate guests with medical requirements outside of those limits if they ask. We strive to keep the apartment as allergy free as possible so that future guests are confident they'll be comfortable when here. We prohibit smoking, e-cigarettes, incense, burning of candles, or anything else that will give the apartment a strong scent that might impact a future guest. We even strive to rent to non-smokers only, that way the particulates that cling to clothing can't be transferred to the couch, pillows, drapes, etc., and possibly affect future guests.
