Cozy tiny house, Parking & Nearby Metro & D.C.
Great place for small families or for interns/couples to retreat to. 500 sq. ft. house. Free street and driveway parking; great access to public transportation. House is on a calm street; private, clean & spacious. There is a large back yard with a fire pit and seating if you enjoy being outside. Oatmeal and pancake mix provided for breakfast. This is a cute cottage/tiny house. Great if staying for DC on your own or coming to visit as a family. Comfortably fits 4 for sleeping. The cottage is only about 500 square feet. This means more than 3 people can start to feel cramped if staying for extended periods of time. We have a huge back yard with a fire pit and benches for any family or friends to enjoy. We also have wood and pokers if you would like to enjoy a fire and roast hotdogs or marshmallows! We have pullout tables and benches if you would like to eat or work outside - just let us know and we can pull them out for your use. In the common space is a twin bed and a pull-out futon to sleep on - please let us know if you would like us to open the Murphy bed for your stay. Nintendo Wii so that you can play video games. The bedroom and living room have a Roku device that has various channels you can surf through. You will have access to the entire cottage house as well as the backyard. Great space if you want to spend time outside with family. I will pretty much let stay out of your way (maybe an occasional message or two). Let me know if you'd like to meet and I'm happy to come back from my house to visit! It is easiest to get a hold of me is through the AirBNB app. We work Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm, but we am happy to help with any issues as soon as we are available Due to COVID-19, we will be keeping our distance to make sure everyone stays safe, but we will likely wave at you when we go on one of our walks if we see you! It is quiet but only a couple of miles from malls, shopping, and food. We are in suburbia but have good and inviting neighbors. I love the neighborhood that I am in. My husband and I often walk around the neighborhood and have no issues with anyone. My only dislike about the neighborhood is that a lot of the small side streets do not have sidewalks. However, we find that vehicles tend to give a wide berth to walkers around here and we are only a couple of blocks from the Suitland Town center. The town center has a play area for children, a workout area for adults, and lots of space to walk around in. They are still in the process of construction in some parts, however, so I only walk around the completed areas. There is a bus a couple of blocks from the house which will take you to the metro to D.C. or to shopping and food. If you prefer to walk, we are just under a mile from the closest subway station that will take you in and out of D.C. - that's just shy of a 20-25 minute walk. Uber/Lyft is also a great resource to use in this area! The bus and subway in the area work under WMATA. You will need to buy some SmartTrip cards at a station or other location (provided in the welcome packet) if you want to use public transportation. Our favorite mode of transportation is biking. If you bring your bike, there are lots of trails around and it is a great way to see DC and visit the sites! UPDATE** We know as hard working teachers, we are not appreciated enough. We also have lots of nurses in our families and want to appreciate them to. If you are an educator (or in the education field - We love our janitors too!!), a nurse or police/military/first responder, please send us a message for an additional discount! This is an older house (from 1934). As such, you will notice it has a rustic feel about it. If you are looking for a 5-star resort, this probably isn't the place for you. We do our best to keep the place tidy and update often. We are constantly updating and trying to change the house for the better! If you see something that needs updating, please let us know!! I am constantly working on trying to give my guests the best experience possible. The top Murphy bed is not yet available for renter use. Please, if you have any questions or concerns, email/text us as soon as you arrive to the house or as soon as you notice any issues so that we can do our best to fix them in a timely manner. No one is happy if there are issues but it's even worse if we don'tknow there is something we could have done to make it better! *CLEANING FEE NOTE* Unfortunately, due to several guests leaving the house without cleaning up after themselves, we have had to increase our cleaning fee to account for nearly the week it takes us to clean after a move out. However, we are willing to send up to $100 of this back if you do a thorough cleaning of the house before you leave. This means the house should look as clean as when you moved in. If this is something you are interested in, send us a message and we are happy to discuss further!
