The Bamboo Coffee House

A perfect getaway for everyone who enjoys nature or need a break from their busy everyday life. Surrounded by coffee and banana plantations and a bambu forest, the farm is always full of life and birdsong. A place where you can sit down and relax, just enjoy life and the spectacular view that this farm has to offer. Have a coffee on our deck, with the best view of the mountains and valleys. El Colibri farm is every nature lovers dream. With a stunning view of the surrounding landscape, mountains and forests this farm is amazing and beautiful. Full of all different types of birds and wildlife. Wether you enjoy birdwatching, picking your own fruits direct from the trees or relaxing in a hammock with a hot cup of coffee, this is the place. Walkers, hikers, adventurers, there is something for everyone. We try to grow our own food, as much as we can, planting new fruits and vegetables every now and then. Maybe you would like to try gardening, harvesting vegetables and fruits. Planting a seed, something you never done before. I would personally love it if anyone wanted to join me in my garden. Maybe you can teach me something new. We both are fluent in English and Swedish and Felipe is also fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Communication should not be a problem. El Colibri consists of the main building where we live and the bambu house in the backyard. The main house has three separate bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of the rooms and bathrooms are for me and Felipe, the rest are for our guests. The common areas that will be shared with us are a fully equipped kitchen that you are welcome to use at anytime, dining room, sofa, hammock, deck with a view, backyard, parking and outdoor fire pit. The bambu house is private for those who book it, don't need to share it unless you want to. As mentioned, we live in the main building, this is our home. We also have two dogs and three cats that live here with us. They are all very friendly. El colibri is 3 km from the nearest town Quimbaya, where you can find everything that you need, grocery shopping, souvenirs, restaurants. It is also close to the popular touristic town Filandia, our favorite town around. Beautiful houses, great restaurants and lots of stores to explore for shopping. It takes about 20 min by car to get there from the farm, public transport is also available. Other popular places close by are Parque del Cafe, Panaca animal farm, Salento, Valle del Cocora and Botanical garden in Armenia. Our farm is a private property, not a hotel or a resort. It is away from the main road and very quiet, away from cars and traffic. It is accessible with public transport, in this area, to get to the farm, the public transport is Willys Jeeps. An experience in itself to go on one of those, sit on the seats or why not stand at the back of the car, holding on to the metal bars on the roof. Crazy or exciting? You decide. Another option is to contact us, we can pick you up with our car from the airport or any other place. If you have your own car, we have a parking area available and the road to get here are good for almost any type of car. We will be at the farm at all times, so we can help guests with whatever they need and answer the questions they may have. It is a very quiet neighbourhood. The neighbours are very friendly and never make any disturbing noise. None of their houses are close to ours, so everyone gets privacy. El Colibri has a very good location, it is in the countryside, but not in the middle of nowhere. Traffic on the road outside our house is minimum. The farm is close to all the popular tourist places in this area: Parque del Cafe, Filandia, Salento, Valle del Cocora, Panaca Farm, Botanical Garden. We have also gone twice by car with guests to Termales de Santa Rosa over the day, it took about 1.5 hours by car. They all loved it and they absolutely recommend going there! We are happy to provide private transportation with our car, anywhere you would like. Show you around the towns and parks, the best cafes and restaurants. Where to get the best prices when shopping. Anything you wonder about, please ask! We are happy to help and want our guests to have the best time possible while staying at Finca El Colibri. We are just 3,5 kilometres from the nearest town center ( quimbaya ) which has absolutely everything the guest may need, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, coffee shops etc. Our road is asphalted all the way to the farm ,and there is also public transport every hour to different locations. Walking to the main street is only one kilometer We can provide breakfast if requested the night before. It costs 10.000 Cop and includes 3 types of local fruits, Colombian traditional Arepa with eggs, orange juice, coffee or Chocolate. We have five friendly pets living at the farm, two dogs and three cats. They are most of the time outside and in the main house with us. One of the dogs and one cat can be a bit shy, but they soften up pretty quickly and all five loves cuddles. All pets understand english and spanish.
