Hermitage Cottage is a hidden gem of a cottage. Located in a stunning and very private situation it has beautiful views of the ocean over Turtle Bay to the south and English Harbour to the east. This cottage is for lovers of nature who like peace, quiet and seclusion and who prefer to live off the beaten track. Renovated by local artist Jennifer Meranto, the space is steeped in charm and romance. We now have fast fibre optic broadband too! • Surrounded by nature, very rural and peacefu (Website hidden by Airbnb) minute walk to beach down dry river bed • Rental car necessary • Access is by foot using stone steps and a bridge over a dry river bed • Amazing hiking from the cottage using local paths • For easy going travellers • One large double bedroom + verandah and shower room Experience the real 'off the beaten track' Antigua when you stay here. There is one very spacious double bedroom with two walk in closets and a verandah with spectacular views over the ocean. This is upstairs along with the spacious shower room. Downstairs you have a small kitchen which is open plan with a large living area, dining table and verandah with hammock. There is another outside seating area at the back of the cottage. The garden is large and wraps all around the cottage. You can even take a shower in the ruins of an old building in the garden. The cottage is secluded and extremely peaceful and quiet. Please note that the cottage is designed to be lived in with open doors and windows. The breeze usually blows through keeping you cool and there is a mosquito net over the bed. But this is not an air conditioned, closed off space like a hotel room. There may well be mosquitoes especially in the summer when there has been rain. Please also be aware that there are steep steps between the car park and the cottage. You do need to be physically able. You have the use of a large garden that wraps around the cottage on all sides. A dry river bed forms the boundary of the property and you have to park on the other side and walk across the bridge to access the cottage. You can also walk down the river bed to the beach. However, please note that there are steep steps between where you will be leaving your car and the cottage. You need to be in good health to be able to access the cottage with ease. Our house manager lives next door and will help with check in and any problems that might arise. Turtle Bay is a very quiet neighbourhood. It is a short walk from the cottage down a dry river bed to the beach at Dieppe Bay or to Turtle Bay. You need a car to reach Turtle Bay. Parking is a short walk from the house. Please note that you cannot park right beside the house. There is a dry river bed to cross to reach the cottage and cars cannot make the trip! However, there is private off road parking very close by. There is a washing machine attached to the main house. You will be able to use this but please ask first in case there are other guests wanting to use it too.
