Jungle Escape Eco Lodge, and Waterfalls NOW OPEN
This one bedroom cabin is located in Saltibus St Lucia at the forest's edge. A waterfall is located on the property just a minutes walk from the cabin and you can read or write in peace with just the sound of the nearby stream and birds breaking the silence. A tour of a neigbouring former slave sugar and cocoa plantation with ruins can be arranged per group. This includes sampling of fruits and vegetables from neighbouring farms. Please contact the hosts to arrange. A natural fresh water spring and waterfall with upper and lower pools, is located on property. This free flowing waterfall is a unique feature rarely found at other private accommodations on the island. The water is clean, clear and cool and is ideal for taking a plunge. There are other hidden falls and pools that require a guided tour that the Hosts can arrange. Please note that the villagers also use the river (which under St Lucia Laws is public the estate is private) for bathing (sometimes nude) and washing so don't be alarmed. The estate is laden with seasonal tropical fruit trees and a clean river suitable for bathing. There is a natural waterfall with two falls and pools on the property for bathing and is suitable for nude private baths. It is recommended, due to the ruggedness of the river valley that extensive exploring be done with the guidance of our knowledgeable estate assistants. We are available and reachable but it is left to the guests how much interaction they want. Guests can call either Alfred at (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) or Richard at - (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) for assistance or information. The cottage is for your full use and enjoyment therefore local visitors should not be allowed in the cottage without the express permission of the hosts. Property and management are welcoming of a diversity of guests from all backgrounds. It is near a rural village and the villagers are friendly. Most are farmers with neighbouring estates so expect to see the odd farmer as he traverses the valley. Neighbours may be shy at first but a kind greeting can open up a conversation. Expect the locals to go out of their way to assist. This is the St Lucian way so enjoy what is still great St Lucian hospitality. There are small community grocers and bars around so need not worry too much about being a distance from the supermarket chain. The community health and wellness centre is located 100 yards from the cottage. Lambert (aka "Brother") can run errands if you ask them nicely. Reliable local minibus system available in the immediate vicinity. Weekdays public transport is more reliable as well as Saturdays but Sundays are a bit more challenging to get a bus. Taxis are available to and from wherever....the towns of Soufriere and Vieux Fort are 30 and 20 mins away respectively. A plethora of beaches both secluded and busy are mere minutes away notably Piaye beach. The property is located at the edge of Edmund Forest.... For total independence we recommend guests have a car rental but the lodge staff transfer from the airport will cost US$25 if possible. If Alfred or Richard not available then (compare taxi fare @ US$35) cost of transfer from Rodney Bay by Alfred or Richard if available is US$100... Normal cabs charge US$150. The more adventurous can use the local bus system but not available from airport. Mini Buses are fairly reliable and traverse the neighbourhood regularly from 6am to 6pm.
