Cozy, Private Chalet with Amazing Views & Hot Tub!

The Calais Chalet, inspired by my Swiss heritage, is located on a blissful ridge with views of the Worcester range. In winter, enjoy a snowshoe on hiking trails, or access to the VAST trail. Rent the whole house (3bdrm/2bath) or just the main floor(2bdrm/1bath). Perfect for the outdoor enthusiast or simply enjoy a quiet, cozy, pet-friendly retreat with breathtaking sunsets on the wrap-around deck, a soak in the hot tub surrounded by the golden summer glow or the snowy tundra. **STARTING IN JUNE OF 2022, THE WHOLE HOUSE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR RENT!!** Guests can rent/access the 3rd floor Master Suite with attached master bath, in addition to the 2 bedrooms and bath on the main floor. There are additional sleeping areas on the landing and finished basement (perfect for youngsters) Rental rate will be determined by occupancy. 4 guests can rent just the main floor (2 bedrooms) The 3rd floor will be unoccupied/locked. 6 or more guests can rent the whole house. The 2/3 additional guest staying on the daybed/futon in finished basement will be an additional cost of $20 p/night p/p. There is a maximum of 9 guests that can be hosted at the Chalet. Guests have access to the whole house; living area, fully appointed kitchen area, and finished basement, in addition to the wrap around deck, surrounding lawn and stone patio. The main floor has two bedrooms with Queen size beds and a full bathroom with a stone, waterfall shower, and a heated towel rack. The master suite with adjoining bathroom has a king bed and jacuzzi tub. The reading nook on the balcony has a day bed available for an extra guest and there is futon in the finished basement for extra guests if other sleep accommodations are needed. The kitchen is fully appointed for all your cooking/grilling/baking needs with a large refrigerator stocked with condiments for guests use. A propane grill is available to guests on the porch Access to the hot tub is on the main floor on the back porch. Guests enter the house through the 2-car garage where vehicles can be stored stored. The finished basement has a full futon available to guests (perfect for children). The heat is radiant, propane heat and is set at 70 degrees during the winter season. The house is quite cozy due to the passive solar through the many windows in the main room. The living room has a wood stove for use only if guests are comfortable lighting/maintaining a fire. Guests should not leave fires unattended. Some wood and starter material will be provided for guests for a few fires, more materials will need to be purchased Wi-Fi is available, but can be intermittent sometimes. Fire TV is available and local TV channels can be seen on the flat-screen TV in the living room. There is a washer and dryer available for guests use on the property. Towels and sheets will be provided. The fire pit, stone patio, wrap around porch, chiminea, grill, are all available for guests use. Some wood and starter material will be provided for guests for a few fires, more materials will need to be purchased. The house is surrounded by gorgeous wooded property to hike or snowshoe through year round. There is access to hiking paths on adjoining property as well. Snowshoes are available for guests use in garage. A wonderful spot to spend the holidays, a romantic, relaxing week/end getaway, or family/friend reunion. Perfect for those that want to explore Vermont, but don’t want to deal with the hustle and bustle of the busier, tourist areas. Inquire about hosting a small, private gathering/event at the Chalet in 2022/2023! IN WINTER/SPRING SNOW TIRES AND 4WD ARE REQUIRED. GUESTS MUST KNOW HOW TO NAVIGATE IN WINTER CONDITIONS. THE HOST WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF A GUEST BECOMES STUCK IN OR AROUND THE PROPERTY. The driveway is plowed/sanded regularly and there will be shovels, sand/salt on hand for pathways if they become icy. The decks and around the hot tub will not always be cleared of snow depending on guest check-in times. Guests will have access to the main floor of the house and finished basement living areas as well as the 2 car garages. The 3rd floor can be rented as well starting in June 2022. Guests are welcome to use the property surrounding the house, the front and back yard are great for outdoor games. The patio and fire pit are perfect for gatherings. I am available and staying close-by for questions and recommendations Walking/hiking/mountain bike/VAST trails are nearby and the neighborhood is only miles away from Woodbury Lake, Marshfield Dam as well as Curtis and Nelson Ponds for swimming, paddling, boating, and skating. Please note that there are no equipment rentals in these areas, so please bring your own. Calais is located 25 minutes between charming Montpelier, VT's Capitol, and home of Barr Hill/Caledonia Spirit and Hardwick, near Hill Farmstead Brewery, Jasper Hill Farm, and Cabot cheese. The house is centered between picturesque Stowe (60min), Jay Peak(90min), Burke Mountain (60min), and Sugarbush (60min) ski resorts. East Calais is a small town in a remote area. The village of Plainfield is a 15-minute drive where a good coop, a few restaurants/ bars, and some shops can be found. Truly a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, explore and unwind. There is no public transport in this part of Vermont. The house is located on a dirt road and is well maintained by the town. PLEASE NOTE IN WINTER SNOW TIRES AND 4WD ARE REQUIRED!! Guests should be able to navigate in winter conditions! Host will help when possible, but guests will be responsible if roadside assistance is needed During our rainy season (spring) the roads can get muddy so AWD drive is recommended.
