I look forward to hosting you soon! Location My home is located in Diego Martin, a popular suburb of the capital city, Port of Spain, which is a 15-minute drive away. It's a 5 to 7-minute walk to taxis, maxi taxis, grocery-shopping, a pharmacy, and fast food spots, including pizza, gyros, local cuisine and a Dairy Queen. Property The listing is in a three-bedroom/two-bathroom home that exudes a colourful Caribbean charm. A clean, stylish, and cosy space, it features common areas at the northern end, bedrooms on the eastern side and bathrooms/utility area on the western side of the house. It was built in the sixties, so expect to find some charming patina. Outdoor Spaces There is a lovely little garden at the rear, with mango, banana, bay leaf, and pawpaw (papaya) trees. I can give you a little tour of the herbs there, if you wish. From the garden, you'll have access to the rear patio (use the same key for the padlock at the main gate). It adjoins the master bedroom, so be mindful of other guests who will have priority here, but you can use it to exercise, relax in the hammock, and enjoy the sounds of a variety of local birds (and, sometimes, the neighbours) at different times of the year. There are also a few coconut trees, and if you're lucky, you might just be here in time to drink some refreshing, healthy coconut water directly from the nut. Guests have access to shared spaces of the house except for the other bedrooms, which may or may not be rented during your stay. The storage/laundry area of the house is also off-limits, but do let me know if you need to do some laundry and I'll be happy to assist you. It costs US $10 per load to wash (so I can offset the cost of soap, water, and electricity) and you'll have to air dry. You can also use off-site laundry services at US $20/load. Feel free to use condiments and seasonings available. The kitchen includes a stove, refrigerator, toaster oven, blender, rice cooker, and microwave oven that guests are free to use. I'll keep the top shelf of my refrigerator and some cabinet space clear for your food. I work at home, so I'll be available as much or as little as you need me. With advance notice, I can arrange day-trips for you (fees are based on location). These include beach "limes", boat rides down-the-islands, waterfall hikes, the Pitch Lake, bird and turtle watching, and scenic mountain drives to name a few. I'm often driving to various parts of Trinidad and Tobago documenting the stories of everyday people for my work. Whatever you choose to do, I'll document the experience for you and provide you with a digital keepsake you'll always have to treasure! My home is located in the popular Port of Spain suburb of Diego Martin. It's a relatively quiet, down to earth, and typical Trini neighborhood. You'll hear my neighbours from time to time, but it's quiet for the most part. Respect for the neighbours is appreciated. I do airport pick-ups at cheaper rates than airport taxis, but the price is based on your arrival/departure time. I can also arrange a car rental or personal driver for you, and I'm very happy to assist anyone who wants to use local transportation/taxi services on their own. TTRideshare, Pink cab, and Drop Taxi Service are some of the more well-known taxi apps here. My home is a 5-7 minute walk from public transportation. There is a shopping complex nearby, which includes a fairly large and well-stocked supermarket, a pharmacy, a dentist, a bakery, and a couple fast food chains. Restaurants, shopping, beaches, golfing, hiking, sailing, and other attractions are also within close proximity. At the time of your stay, the additional bedrooms may also be booked by other guests, but I will inform you of this at the time of your booking. Laundry It costs US $10 per load to wash (so I can offset the cost of soap, water, and electricity), but you'll have to airdry your clothes as I have ditched the dryer in order to conserve energy. I can also arrange offsite laundry services at your request for US$25 per load to wash and dry. Amenities and Cleaning I provide all linens (sheets, towels, and washcloths), and I refresh these every week. You will find the house clean on arrival and for stays of one week or less, there will be no additional cleaning service. If you are here for two weeks there will be one clean, usually on the middle Saturday, but we can discuss another day/or time that better suits your schedule. An electric bug-repellent device is available in your room for added protection. Replacements tabs for the device are also provided. There are an iron and ironing board in the kitchen between the refrigerator and pantry cabinet. A can of spray starch is also on top of the refrigerator for your convenience. I try to conserve energy as much as possible so the room is not air-conditioned, but an electric fan is provided for your comfort. I recycle my plastics and glass, so I'll show you where to place these on your arrival.
