Sea side house in fishing village
Welcome to my home in Laborie, St. Lucia. This is a fully furnished, 2-bedroom home, located on the beach in a small fishing village. Due to covid-19, you must be fully vaccinated to stay at my house, which is covid certified by the MInistry of Health and the MInistry of Tourism. It is listed as "Seaside House" on the certified accommodations list on the MInistry of Tourism website. Please consult this website for additional information about travel in St. Lucia during the pandemic. Thanks. Two story house with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Air conditioning in the bedrooms added Oct. 2015. Ceiling fans in all rooms. Located in the heart of a community, backs up to the sea. Fully equipped kitchen with open floor plan to living room on first floor. Balconies off both bedrooms, one facing the sea, the other facing the street. Bedding/bath towels/beach towels included. Snorkeling gear and 4 adult life jackets included. Outdoor table/chairs in back yard. Hammocks on both balconies. Access to entire house includes cable tv, wifi, hot water, sea at the back of the house. Guests can have cleaning/cooking provided for an additional fee. Outings can be arranged with local relatives who will be managing the property in St. Lucia. The house is located on the main street that runs along the sea. Many homes are owned and occupied by local fishermen and their families who are happy to share their knowledge of the island with visitors. There are lots of children, dogs and the occasional rooster in the neighborhood. There are public transports available in the village (approx. 3 minute walk from the house) to surrounding villages/points of interest. There are also numerous private taxis available for hire in the village. There is parking available for rented cars near the house. Taxis are available at the airport (intl. airport in Vieux Fort is approx. 15 min. away). There are many areas of interest near Laborie, including Morne Le Blan (hiking), Balanbush (old sugar plantation), sulpher springs in Soufriere, and snorkeling at the Pitons. Fishing and other outings with locals can be arranged. Guests have access to the entire house. My sister is available to assist guests, as I am no longer living in St. Lucia. I also have two brothers who live on the same street and can help with any questions. My brothers also have boats and can take you out fishing or on snorkeling outings to the base of the Pitons where there is a marine nature preserve. The house is located in a thriving fisherman's neighborhood. There are men weaving fish pots in the lot next to the house and people playing soccer/football on the field near the house. You can hear the fishermen blow the conch to announce the arrival and sale of their catch. There are lots of children around to tell you about their village and friendly neighbors who can point out the local Creole bread shop (don't miss it!) as well as other places of interest in the village. There are many pets roaming about, including dogs, cats, chickens, goats and roosters. Taxis are available at the airport to bring you to the house. There are transports (vans) in the village that can take you to Vieux Fort or other villages around Laborie. You can also hire taxis to get to various points of interest, or you can hire them for the day to take you on a "round about the island" to explore all that St. Lucia has to offer. Please see the St. Lucia Ministry of Tourism website for special information related to the covid-19 pandemic, including curfews and restrictions on certain tourist destinations. Thanks.
