It is on a large property with tropical plants and the beach which is 7 km long and almost deserted most of the time. Swimming is excellent - warm and safe. (bioluminescence appears some nights) Small grocery store and taxi across the street and several restaurants are within easy walking distance. The local bar/restaurant is a 10 minute walk on the beach and another great place to eat, drink, play cards and games is right across the street. An excellent Italian style restaurant is two doors north. Rentals for kayaks and stand up paddle boards, and various tours is 5 doors south. The casita also has a shared laundry for the guests use. There is a large shared rancho available as another place to sit, eat, read or relax. A small shared ranchito at high tide line is a great place to watch the sun set. The beach is metres from the front door - great walking, swimming and biking. Reliable WIFI in the casita. We are next door for most of the high season and happy to answer questions, give directions and generally help you feel at home if you need it. Privacy is respected. Zancudo is a small community of about 300 Costa Ricans and about 100 expats, living along the one main road that has the ocean and sand beach on one side, and the river and estuaries on the other side. It is quiet, friendly and laid back. Everywhere you go, you will be greeted by "hola" or "pura vida". There are excellent restaurants, several beach bars, and many tours available: orchid garden, animal sanctuary, Osa peninsula, birdwatching, mangrove estuaries, and more. Rentals are available for kayaks and stand up paddle boards. If you are a surfer, there are places to rent boards and surf conditions good for beginning and intermediate surfers, and expert surfing in Pavones (an excursion from Zancudo - 40 minutes) Bicycles are available for your use to get to most places on the beach. Alternatively, you can get a taxi to drive you to places on the beach or for day trips out to other destinations. A public boat taxi will take you into Golfito, leaving Zancudo at 7 am and returning at 1 pm.. Check for days available. Monday to Friday in high season. Bring sunscreen, hat and insect repellent, bathing suits and light weight clothing. Towels for personal use and linens for kitchen and bed are provided. Temperature is fairly consistently 30 degrees centigrade with a breeze from the gulf.
