A guest residence that bridges culture, art and mindful living – a warm, welcoming place for restoring peace and rest while discovering the beauty of Salvador at its heart. We are located in the historic center of Salvador, Bahia, in the peaceful and picturesque colonial neighborhood of Santo Antonio. This two-story colonial home has been thoughtfully designed and decorated to highlight historical charm and local culture while also creating an environment for peaceful rest. The host; Annette is the Danish owner of this lovely home, living in Salvador since 2001. She is a performer/musician, artisan, guide, healer and holistic body therapist. Inspired by her passionate love for Bahian culture, she cultivated a vision of her home as a guest residence for people guided by light, love and Axé – a guest residence that bridges art, culture and mindful living. You will be welcomed with a fresh homemade fruit juice, an orientation around how to get around in the neighborhood and topics about special cultural events to check out during your stay. If preferred, we can schedule the transportation between the house and the airport with sweet, helpful and trusted local drivers. Annette will be able to organize workshops with local artists, guided tours and cultural excursions with local tourist guides, and when being in Salvador Annette will be available for you to join her own projects of personal guiding, cultural learning and integration. Besides that, you will have the opportunity to schedule for sessions of massage therapy, healing and holistic physiotherapy. If you are having your stay in a period where Annette is abroad, she will be accessible online to handle out issues within transportation and cultural interaction while, Michele - the sweet local angel of housekeeping - in her physically presence, will make the preparations and introductions to the space. The house is a 10-minute walk to the Pelourinho and around the corner from beautiful Santo Antonio square that overlooks the Bay, the lower city and Itaparica island, making it a perfect place to watch the sunset each evening. The square is also home to 4 traditional capoeira Angola groups at the fort, with classes and “rodas” open to beginners and advanced students throughout the week. The neighborhood is known for the great food that can be found at the number of family-owned restaurants overlooking the bay. Or if you prefer to cook at home, the house is a 2-minute walk from the local supermarket and a 10 minute walk to the historic São Joaquim market. While being located in the History Center, you will be able to reach most cultural attractions by feet. Buses to the Atlantic Ocean you will have in 10 min walk distance, and for the airport you have a special VIP connection to Praça da Cé in Pelourinho, 20 min walk with a back pack. For the connecitons to the ilands you will find the Ferry Terminal with ferries to Itaparica and other destinations south of Salvador in 15 min. walk distance and for the Catamaran to Morro de São Paulo in 25 min. bagpack walking distance. The fee per night includes fresh sheets, towels, coffee, tea and cleaning. A basket of fruits, a “startup kitchen basket”, breakfast or a evening soup can be prepared for an additional fee (2-person minimum). If you will be arriving earlier or later than the official check-in/check out timewe can accommodate your arrival for a small additional fee. If you would like to check-out later than the official time, a smaller fee will also be added. If possible, please inform us before your arrival to accommodate. If you would like to schedule massage therapy, holistic physiotherapy or healing sessions with Annette while you are here, that will also possible.
