Casa Pura Vida - Comfy Mountain Home in Tinamastes
Welcome to our peaceful and comfy mountain retreat in beautiful Tinamastes Costa Rica! We are a short drive from a number of stunning beaches, known for great surfing & snorkeling. There’s a lot to do on land as well! The house is close to both of the spectacular waterfalls in the area; Nauyaca and Diamonte. It is also close to Reptilandia, zip-lining, coffee and chocolate tours and a variety of other eco-tourism activities. We also feature fiber-optic high speed Internet. Truly live Pura Vida! Our mountain house is constructed of steel shipping container and concrete. It’s attractive, safe, eco-friendly and we offer touches to make it very comfortable... ie: hand held shower heads, comfortable beds, air-conditioning, shiny new cooktop, washer/dryer, large microwave, brand new modular sofas that can easily turn into two oversized twin beds or an oversized king in the living area. We also have installed fiber-optic lightening fast Internet. Work from Costa Rica or stream your favorite shows on one of the two flat screen TV’s. The property is around one acre and lined with a thick bamboo hedge with a running creek at the bottom. Trees and other fauna are abundant on the property. This means that you’ll definitely see beautiful birds and butterflies and you might even spot a sloth or a monkey! The location of this property is in Tinamastes, walking distance to a small well-stocked grocery store call Elizabeth #1 and a hardware store. It’s also very close to the fabulous Tinamastes Organic Farmer’s Market held each Tuesday (online purchasing with pick-up or delivery is also available.) Yet, it’s far enough off of the main road to offer a peaceful stay in the beautiful Costa Rica mountains! It is approximately 20 minutes from Dominical Beach and 20 minutes from San Isidro General, a small city with all amenities available, including a Super WalMart, medical facilities and a variety of shops and restaurants. Specific directions to the home will be given at time of confirmed reservation. **Please note that we recommend arriving before sundown, which is generally around 6:00pm.** The entire house and all of the gated and bamboo hedged property is all yours! You’ll have close to an acre to roam around and explore. We are available at any time over (Hidden by Airbnb) . We are happy to answer any questions that you might have, make recommendations for restaurants or fun things to do in the area. Contact information will be given at time of reservation confirmation. There is also local support available; a US ex-pat who can help with any issues that may come up. She lives close by and speaks English and Spanish. This property is located in Tinamastes, on the top of a mountain between the beautiful beach town of Dominical to the west and the small city of San Isidro General to the east. Everything you could ever want is available to you in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) minutes. We have some great restaurants within five minutes of the house, a fully stocked grocery store about a five minute walk up the hill, and access to two of the most beautiful waterfalls in Central America are within a 10 minute drive (Diamonte and Nauyaca.) You should definitely experience the view at Los Chorros restaurant, just a 3 minute drive from the house. The entire restaurant is open air and the back of the restaurant overlooks a spectacular cavernous valley where you may even see toucans and eagles soar through the air. We highly recommend the fresh fish with garlic sauce or any of the casados. If you enjoy Mediterranean food, try Amor, which is 3-4 minutes away by car. The owner is Israeli and his food is both authentic and delicious! Heading towards Dominical about 13 minutes down the mountain is Ricardos (Ricar2.) This unique restaurant not only boasts a full swimming pool, but the bar is actually built inside of a gutted jet airplane! As cool as the atmosphere is, the food is even better! There is public transportation available and the bus stop is a quick five minute walk from the house. However, we would highly recommend renting a car and if possible, request a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Our property is fully accessible with a regular car and two-wheel-drive, but you’ll want to explore the off-road trails in the area and those require four-wheel-drive. The property is lush mountain jungle. Our landscapers are at the house twice per month, usually on Thursday mornings, although depending on weather, they could show up on any day. They are very nice and very trustworthy will be on property for around three hours and they’ll be happy to cut down fruit from the higher trees if you ask them. The electricity can be unreliable in Costa Rica. Generally, if the power goes out, it’s usually back on within an hour or so. We do have a UPS unit to help keep the internet router live, should you lose power. There are also flashlights and candles in the house. Also, we recently installed window coverings on all windows!
