The little cabin has a great ocean view to watch the ships go sailing by & clouds parade down the coast. Nights are wonderful just sitting around the campfire, star gazing and telling stories. Tent camping for the kids is safe and easy. Located 20 miles north of Hilo. Just 1 mile from the highway. Very serene with only the sounds of the flowing waterfall, breezes through the trees, and tropical birds. My two horses (Mahina and Shy Girl) will be eagerly awaiting to greet you. Aloha and happy trails! I highly recommend SUV or 4 x 4 rentals, NO low clearance vehicles i.e. Camaro or Mustangs NOTE : Flooding may and does occur in North Hilo and on the Big Island. Please use extreme caution when near, swimming in or crossing any waterway. 4x4 or jeep is recommended for exploring back road areas on the island and to get to my place. 4x4 is required to access Waipio Valley, Green Sands Beach, and Mauna Kea. When you stay at our property on the edge of one of Hawaii's pristine perennial streams, you are essentially at a homestead on the edge of a “public park.” Check in can be flexible BUT PLEASE provide your ETA on arrival day. Often times guests will be greeted upon arrival and we are usually around somewhere on the land and are a phone call away. Our herd of horses roam freely on the property. They are usually very curious and happy to interact with guests. Horses may behave differently with different people. Please don’t feed treats to any horse. They can typically be "shewed" away out of the site if you need a break, but truly enjoy relaxing with our guests. If at any time you'd prefer the horses be removed just let your host know! Located just north of Hilo on the northeastern side of the island of Hawaii, the Hamakua Coast is one of the most beautiful stretches of scenery on the island. With ample rainfall each year, the region boasts lush tropical rainforests, stunning waterfalls and tranquil green valleys. Awesome ocean views. Papaaloa Country Store , Bar and Restaurant is just down the road . Great pizza and local style fresh food. Nightly live music almost 6 nights a week. Please be aware that depending on rain fall the property is at risk of drought. This can sometimes cause the pond levels to drop making it less scenic for some. Rural roads have unique characteristics and conditions. They are not city streets and they are not maintained in the same manner. Flooding is also not uncommon on rural roads. Heavy rains can overflow creeks and waterways, flooding roads and making them impassable. Select the most appropriate vehicle for the conditions e.g. 4WD or AWD. When traveling in less domesticated locations, (like our listing) we recommend that guest copy and save our reliable handwritten direction offline (Website hidden by Airbnb) maps + unmarked roads will get you lost in our neighborhood.
