Casa de Campo Abuelita: Prívate Pool, Clean River
Casa de Campo Abuelita is the perfect gateway for small families. It is located in a tropical flower plantation in the mountains. It is bordered by a clean stream, Rio Casei, with fishing and swimming holes. It is specially good for bird watching, hiking, watching the stars at night or taking a moon bath.My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids). Sorry, no pets. The private pool is solar heated and has a nice terrace to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. This cement house is in a 5 acre tropical flower farm in the mountains of Puerto Rico. This private farm is located in a lush river valley surrounded by mountains and brimming with natural life. The Casey river is a short walk away and it is ideal for a refreshing dip in its swimming holes, fishing for dajao, and shrimping at night. Our guests enjoy the river very much. The house has two bedrooms that accommodates 5 persons. This is an area full of life: lizards, insects, coquís, crickets, birds, and other local fauna. The house and its surroundings are kept free of pests, though the occasional gecko (harmless) might find its way inside. The house is fully screened and can be left open to enjoy the night sounds. The rooms are air conditioned for your pleasant sleep at night. The solar heated pool is part of the offering. Try to make good use of it. The motor needs to rest after the use of two hours. Make sure you follow the rules on its use. Guests can explore the farm, hike the access road behind the farm for exercise, bird watching, and/or to reach different parts of the river. There's a trail that leads to other vacation farms and provides access to other parts of the river, including a small waterfall and a large swimming hole. Pool rules: The pool is small and suitable for exercising and relaxing. No jumping ( 4.5 ft deep) No spitting and no peeing No animals No tanning or blocking lotions No skinny dipping No sex Babies with special bathing . No disposable diapers. These rules are necessary for your safety and health. Visitors need to be approved and registered. The owner, Nelsie Flores, lives in an apartment attached, but separate to the house. She is usually around and available to personally greet our guests and help them settle in. In case you need something, she probably can help you. Feel free to ask. This is a quiet neighborhood with a church, a bar, and a "lechonera" (place where they make roast pork in the weekends). The lechonera has a bar, sells Puerto Rican fried foods, and "cuajito" (stewed tripe), and roast pernil. About 5 minutes away, in the Rt 352 intersection, there is a bakery, hardware store, tire store, bar, gas station, and pharmacy. The gas station, the bakery and the pharmacy are also convenience stores which sell basic groceries, desserts, etc. To get to supermarkets, restaurants, and other amenities you need to drive to Mayagüez, San Sebastián, or Las Marías all about 20-30 minutes away. This farm is near the following tourist attractions in nearby small towns: Maricao: Hacienda Juanita, Torre de Piedra, Monte del Estado, Salto Curet, Fish hatchery. Las Marías: Festival de la China (March). Lares: Hacienda Lealtad, Heladería El Grito. San Sebastian: Farmer's Market (Fridays), Gozalandia (waterfall). Moca: Castillo Labadie. There is no public transportation available in this area. This is a quiet neighborhood, interrupted by occasional music from a nearby church or bar. Church services are on Thursday and Sunday afternoons for about 2 hours. The bars are further away and their music is distant and faint in volume. The power generator turns automatic for check up on Saturday at 10:00 AM for 12 minutes. There are great beaches about 30-60 minutes away. Nearby beaches include Tres Hermanos (Añasco), Steps and Sandy Beach (Rincón), Crash Boat (Aguadilla), Punta Arenas, Buyé, Boquerón, Combate, and Playuela (Cabo Rojo). I have the following beach items available: cooler, 1 folding chair, and beach towels. Loud music is not permitted.
