Casa Bjerke is located in a neighborhood of houses built by foreigners that either live in the area permanently, or visit the lake once or twice a year and stay in their vacational houses. The streets are very clean and picturesque, completely surrounded by nature. This neighborhood is unofficially called the Norwegian Woods. The house can be reached by boat or foot only, the pier is at a 5 minute walk from the house, walking through a paved path. If you want to park your vehicle, the best options is to leave it in Panajachel, where there are parking lots near the public pier. Then, you take a boat to the house in Santa Cruz that takes about 20 minutes. Regular boat service stops at 5pm, so if you need a boat after this time, the best option is to get a water taxi. We can arrange this for you. You can also walk to downtown Santa Cruz through the trails around the area. It would take about 20 to 30 minutes to do so. You can also take a boat to Santa Cruz public pier which would take 5 minutes. You can see antiques and special details all over the house, it's like walking into a private museum. With corners filled with vibrant colors and unique pieces. You'd be entertained just by contemplating the decoration. It is necessary to come to Panajachel first; if you are driving, you need to park here. Parking rates go from Q50 to Q75 per night. You can do your grocery shooping and ATMS stop at Panajachel since there are no stores or ATMs near the house. In the house you will find one full big jug of drinking water, sugar, salt, coffee and cooking oil, as well as toilet paper, body soap and shampoo. Regular boat service stops at 5pm, so if you need a water taxi to get to the house, or if you want to rent a boat for the day to visit different towns around the lake, we can arrange it for you.
