This property is truly one of a kind. We’d love for you to experience both the breath taking view outside and the Spanish revival elements of the house inside. Located on the northwest rim of an extinct volcano in the Apoyo Lagoon Natural Reserve, the view is...spectacular! Looking out from the Castillo terrace, in front of you lies the ancient volcanic Apoyo lake. In the distance, you can see the Mombacho volcano, Lake Nicaragua, the city of Granada and the Isletas ,and sometimes Concepcion. The 3000 square foot house boasts hand rendered concrete and stucco, and curved arches with exposed beams and cane ceilings. Doors and windows are arched with matching woodwork. Tile floors with hand painted accent border tiles are found throughout the entire house. The beautiful kitchen is well adorned and has a gas stove and oven. There are two dining tables for large gatherings and a living room with a smart TV to stream movies and entertainment. There are three bedrooms , individually air conditioned with additional overhead ceiling fans. Water is from a spring fed aquifer and there is hot water on demand. Step outside onto the expansive terrace and you’re immediately struck by the totally private and gorgeous infinity pool, with the lake providing the backdrop. There are two covered porches with hand crafted local furniture giving you plenty of opportunities to relax comfortably outdoors. The area is home to an Eco Reserve that boasts 500 species of plants and tropical trees with a large variety of orchids. The abundant wildlife includes howler monkeys, iguanas, lizards and ant eaters. There are also over 230 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies and a variety of fish, some of which are only found in this lake. A large mango tree towers above the driveway (feel free to pick them up as they drop and make a great salad or smoothie) , and lush tropical flowers abound. Humming birds and other tropical birds frequent the area with an occasional Toucan. We also have items that can be signed out...such as ... snorkelling equipment, yoga mats, bluetooth floating speaker, life jackets, floating loungers and an iPhone that you can buy time on locally..... and remember to visit the website nicaraguaforyou to get further info The whole house is yours to enjoy. We ask that the laundry area is off limits but laundry can be arranged with the maid for a cost of $2 a load Local restaurants both in the Laguna and within the area have beautiful views and excellent food. See pics We will have a property manager meet with you and go over house particulars, local info and will be available as an emergency contact. ***We also have a grocery service that you can preorder goods to be stocked if you are coming in on a late flight*** We also have recently handpicked a tour guide with popular tours and packages that are available for small and large groups. See our recent reviews Laguna de Apoyo is a unique and beautiful natural reserve, heralded as the cleanest, deepest and warmest lake in Nicaragua. The average temperature is around 83 degrees Fahrenheit,... due to thermal vents that warm the water. The lake is described as an inverted extinct volcano that filled with rain and underground water thousands of years ago. The water itself is freshwater but slightly salty and is also said to have therapeutic value. Within the water is a variety of fish, some of which are found only in this lake…note: nothing that likes human flesh...LOL. For the SCUBA diver enthusiast or beginner there is a diving school that provides dives to see this natural wonder and the living world beneath. This area was also declared a nature reserve in 1991 and building in this reserve is extremely limited making it a peaceful area which noise is kept to a minimum…no chainsaws, no motorboats. The surrounding tropical dry forest is home to over 230 species of birds, numerous reptiles like iguanas, snakes and animals such as anteaters, jaguarondi, and the howler monkeys to name a few. As well, the flora consists of 500 species of plants, varieties of orchids and huge exotic hardwood trees. I would recommend either renting a taxi to get around as they are quite cheap, or rent a car from Granada. We have chosen a few local cabs and a transportation company who can accommodate small and large groups. As I mentioned earlier we have handpicked a tour guide with popular tours and packages that are available for small and large groups. See our recent reviews and.... (*see our website nicaraguaforyou on the web) As it is 45 minutes from the airport I would suggest the shuttle service we have set up which is avail for $40US for 4 people, or $70 for a group larger than 4 . Our property manager will set this up and the driver will take you from the airport to the doorstep. The driver will meet you at airport with your name displayed. If you rent a car have your GPS from your phone locate the route to house, we will send the GPS co ordinates. *You can easily pay for anything in US dollars and local restaurants and businesses will give you the best exchange rates, banks will charge a commission. Bring smaller denomination US bills.*
