Welcome to our home space... It's a quiet peaceful location, kick back & enjoy. There's an award winning pub on the doorstep, literally a 3 minute walk .. the gardens are pretty, feel free to roam with the fresh running stream, which is home to our ducks. We are set at the foot of May Hill, a beautiful natural area for walking & exploring. We'll provide a welcome hamper including biscuits bread & milk, let us know if you need anything x This annexe is newly converted & hopefully you'll find everything to a high standard. It's all fresh & clean, ready to welcome you. If there is anything we can do to help your stay along, just give us a shout, we're usually around. A travel cot can be provided, so non-mobile babies would be fine, The annexe has a spacious bathroom with a deep semi free standing luxurious bath, there is NO shower , a double bedroom, fully functional and fitted kitchen and a lounge/dining area with an electric wood burner, there is also central heating and plenty of hot water. We have a 4 person inflatable hot tub for the sole use of our guests. For all new bookings made after April 1st we will need to charge a fee of £15 per stay if you would like to use the hot tub, sadly this is due the the huge increase in electricity costs that we are all experiencing. Please be sure to confirm this with me when booking as it takes a minimum of 24 hours to reach temperature, and this can be much longer in the colder months. We respectfully ask our guests to refrain from using the hottub after 10.30 pm Sunday to Thursday evenings as the noise carries. - Much as I hate to put this in writing it really is not acceptable to have intercourse in the Hottub , it’s extremely unhygienic not to mention embarrassing as the noise really does carry … We are set at the foot of May Hill in a very scenic and rural location on the edge of the Forest of Dean. We have The Farmers Boy, an award winning pub right on our door step, (more Pie awards in 2022) which many of our guests have used and thoroughly enjoyed, we are surrounded by several other excellent pubs, the Penny Farthing at Aston Crewes have an exceptional menu with delicious food and an amazing Sunday Roast, but you'll need to book to avoid disappointment, the Tea Rooms at the Fairview Garden Centre will not disappoint and can cater for GF, and DF amongst other requirements, and The Kings Arms in Newent offer a fabulous home cooked menu with a very welcoming atmosphere. Depending on what you are looking for - there are lots of walks around following public foot paths and some beautiful scenery to take in. Bicycles can be hired in the Forest of Dean, there are many tracks to follow through the forest. We are about 6 miles away from the Market town of Ross on Wye where I believe paddle boarding and canoeing are available on the River Wye, although I think you would need to book in advance. Tintern Abbey is beautiful for a mosey around the ruins, Chepstow Castle too is not a million miles away. Monmouth is another lovely Market town on the River Mono I believe and very quaint with coffee shops, eating houses and pubs. In opposite directions of each other, the small city of Hereford with its beautiful Cathedral holding the Hereford Mappa Mundi, one of the worlds unique medieval treasures, and Cheltenham Spa are both lovely for shopping and site seeing. Gloucester being 9 miles away has the historic docks, often with Tall Ships, an abundance of restaurants in the docklands and the outlet Designer Mall. Gloucester Cathedral famed for the filming of Harry Potter amongst many other things is certainly worth a visit. Often there is a Victorian Christmas Market hosted at the Docks, or Food Festivals celebrating cuisine from around the world. Plenty of parking on our private drive, and just a couple of steps into the annexe. We're not on a bus route, but the local pub & restaurant is 3 minutes away, there's a village shop & post office too, open daily in the summer months until 8pm - (Sundays 4pm). Longhope also has a fabulous artisan bakery, which I believe is open Weds to Sat, with all freshly baked goods, breads, croissants, pastries and many other delicious offerings, the bakery is under a mile away. We're just 6 miles from Ross on Wye, or 9 from Gloucester along the A40 We're usually around if you need anything, we'll leave you our mobile number if we're out. If you need a later checkout please ask , we will do our best to accommodate you depending on how soon our next guests are arriving and the availability of our lovely cleaning lady. Please be absolutely aware however that standard checkout time is 10 am as the property clean commences at 10.15 am to allow a deep and thorough clean in between guests , the importance of this being even more so whilst COVID is still around. You are kindly reminded that you must strip your bedding and place your towels and bedding in the laundry bag provided this is to protect us all and to make sure that we keep our Garden Annexe a safe environment for our guests to enjoy. I’m afraid If our cleaning lady has to handle your bedding or if she is kept waiting there will be a reasonable charge levied. Rest assured however we will always treat our guests how we would wish to be treated x We're rural, so expect to hear the cows, the horses occasionally the ducks & the birdsong, expect the fresh (and not so fresh) smells of the countryside Parking is available on the private drive, we ask guests to park to the right had side as we share this space. We're not on a bus route, but you can get to the Gloucester - Ross on wye bus route which is only about a mile away. Let us know if you are celebrating anything special and would like Flowers, Cakes, Champagne etc, payment would be required in advance, but we can happily arrange most things.
