Rustic Tropical Paradise
My place has fantastic views of the Golfo Dulce where you can find dolphins, humpback whales and sea turtles. You’ll love this simple open structure because of the feeling of being alone in nature with many fruits to pick at from the surrounding forest while watching wildlife pass by like monkeys, parrots and toucans. My place is great for couples and solo travelers with a good level of fitness. This simple open air hut structure with roof is located in a 21 hectare private wildlife refuge. The experience of this nature living is an amazing opportunity to spend time in one of the most bio diverse areas of this planet. There are 3 trails on the property which our guests have full access to. The principal trail leads up hill to the main entrance from the tiny village Playa Cacao, which takes 20-30 minutes to walk. One other trail leads to a small secluded swimmable beach, and the last to an area of the refuge which is pure primary forest. There is a spanish speaking caretaker who lives on site available 24 hours a day. He has a mobile phone to contact me or one of my other english speaking colleagues in case you have questions or would like to reserve any tours which we can happily do. We are based at the bottom of the hill in Playa Cacao. You will be shown up to the property by a representative on arrival to Playa Cacao. We also offer a luggage carrying service for $5 extra per bag. The beauty of this property is the lack of neighborhood. You will be nestled among primary and secondary forest as well as an edible garden area. There are 2 restaurants open daily on Playa Cacao, the nearest village. The nearest supermarkets can be found on mainland Golfito. Shopping and prepared meals are available upon request. Please note that this stunning piece of paradise is a 20-30 minute up hill hike. To get to Playa Cacao where the trail starts, a 5 minute boat ride is necessary from main land Golfito which we organize for you once we have arrival time information. Otherwise, you can take your car to Playa Cacao where it can stay until you check out, but then an extra 15 minutes should be added to the walking time to the property. You will be in the jungle so expect insects, bats, geckos, maybe snakes. Mosquito nets are supplied for the beds but if you have a phobia of these animals then you may prefer staying somewhere more closed and less remote. The cold water shower is located less than 1 meter outside the house. There is no electricity at this property nor hot water. For charging electronics you may ask at one of the restaurants in Playa Cacao if ordering a drink or food. The water is drinkable and very yummy! NO CANDLES ALLOWED IN THE CABIN.We provide battery run false candles. Please bring AA batteries incase they run out.
