Modern Studio in Idyllic Hudson Valley Countryside
Big studio loft with tons of natural light, vaulted ceilings, hammock, big backyard and private deck! Vintage mid-century style! 700 sq/ft stand-alone unit with a full kitchen. Nestled on 3.5 beautiful acres in the heart of Hudson Valley farm country, the studio stands adjacent to an 1890 farmhouse where your hosts, Nila and Frank, live. New floors, queen bed, 48" tv, fridge and couch. All these new things live alongside some of our favorite vintage finds. A perfect getaway spot. The studio is totally separate from the main house, above our garage. Your hosts Nila and Frank understand how valuable privacy is when you're trying to relax away from home. However, if you need anything, be it a cup of sugar or a restaurant recommendation - please don't hesitate to ask! The studio and its deck are all yours! It is very private. Guests have their own parking spot in a driveway that is shared with the hosts. The hammock is exclusively for guest use. The shade from that tree moves throughout the day so go ahead and move the hammock around if you want to. In winter months, we put the hammock away. Our outdoor firepit is available for you to use. It is a lovely way to spend an evening here. Please contact us first if you wish to have a fire. Conditions permitting (burn bans/weather). Truly feel free to utilize and enjoy the yard and outdoor space - we have a wide open sky for stargazing and the top of the hill provides stunning sunsets. There is an outdoor blanket in the studio, perfect for a picnic or watching shooting stars. Nila and Frank live in the main house on the property. One or both of us will be around most days. You may see us outside, but unless you need something, we give you privacy so you can relax and enjoy your vacation. We are nestled in beautiful Hudson Valley farm country. Rolling hills, an apple orchard and hemp fields surround the property. The setting is idyllic, peaceful and gorgeous. In the fall, enjoy the many pick-your-own apple farms in the area, the closest of which is just down the road. The beautiful scenery and rolling hills make this a popular area for biking. If you have a kayak, there are many great spots around here. And of course, lots of hiking and rock-climbing. We are only 10 minutes from New Paltz, a funky college town with a multitude of restaurants, bars, shops, yoga studios, a movie theater, the Trailways bus station, and the SUNY New Paltz campus. There are 2 grocery stores and a natural foods market. Clintondale itself is tiny and very walkable! The Gunk Haus, a renowned German restaurant, is a 5-minute walk away - as is an great little antique store called Grandpa's Vintage Attic. [Note: Unfortunately, Gunk Haus is currently closed following a fire caused by a drunk driver. They are in the process of rebuilding the restaurant.] If you need other restaurant/local business recommendations, there is a binder in the studio with tips. Or check out our Guidebook here on Airbnb. Or just ask! We’re only ten minutes off the I-87 thruway. 90 minutes from New York City 80 minutes from Albany 20 minutes from The Gunks/Mohonk 20 minutes from Poughkeepsie 20 minutes from Kingston 30 minutes from Newburgh For skiing and snowboarding, Hunter and Belleayre Mountains are each only an hour away! For getting around the Hudson Valley, we recommend using a car, although there are also local taxi services. [COVID note: There are fewer taxis running. During this time, our studio is best suited to guests with a car.] The Trailways bus station in New Paltz is 4 miles away. The Metro North train station in Poughkeepsie is 9 miles away. Both have regular service to and from New York City - on average, a 90 minute ride. There is air conditioning and heat, both of which you can control to your liking. The kitchen is equipped with a stove, fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker as well as a pour-over coffee cone with filters, and pots and pans, flatware, dishes, etc. There is no dishwasher. There is a shower (no tub). Towels are provided, as well as shampoo and conditioner. There is a hair dryer and an iron. There is a portable Bluetooth speaker and the tv has Netflix and HDMI inputs. There is WiFi. We’ve had many guests use the studio as a place to work from home, and nobody has had any problems with its speed or reliability. As for laundry, for longer-term guests, we give access into our garage, which has a washer and dryer. (If you are staying for a shorter stay and need to do laundry, just contact us and we will open the garage for you.) *April through October: If you and your partner need separate spaces for working (or if you just want a quiet little writing nook), we also have a very cute little Scamp camper parked outside the studio that you can rent for an extra $20/day. It has a desk, electricity, and WiFi and works great as a little office. Let us know when booking if you’d like to add the camper office.* This is apple country and we are in an agricultural neighborhood, so you may hear some noises from the local farms and businesses. There is an apple farm across the street and a cider mill next door. They usually aren’t very loud, but occasionally you may hear some truck noises. Our backyard runs alongside a farm’s open field, so you might see farmers and their equipment come and go on the hillside. Feel free to wave hello! *** Sorry - no pets, no parties, no smoking. Absolutely no illegal downloading/streaming/bittorrent over our wifi.
